So I have just sat with the doppler on, counting the peanut's heart rate.

So far it has been 180bpm every time. I count how many beats per 15 seconds and then times by 4 and everytime is has been the same.

Is this a good heart rate?

And what's that old wives take about bpm and sex of baby?

Im sure I saw on another thread just afew mins ago if its over 140bpm its a girl x Not sure about if its good, i forget so much of what i read!xx

I've heard the faster it is the more likely it's a girl but my SIL is pregnant with a boy and his little heartbeat is always around 160 so I don't know how true it is. Still fun to speculate though! My LOs heartbeat is normally around 165-170. It's a great thing to hear!

180 is prefect it's what my LO's was at first. the old wives tale is basically rubbish. the heart rate slows as baby grows, it's nothing to do with gender. mine went from 180 at 9 weeks to about 160 at 13 weeks and 140 at 17 weeks xx

I heard the HR and sex of baby was only relevant inthe third trimester. It's over 150 for a girl and under for a boy. My LO's HR varied so much though he could have been both =)

over 140 BPM is a girl for the old wives tale :)
