I just took my little girl to the park and i started getting pains in my back (they werent very painful) but every time it hurt i'd get tightenings in my tummy. There was no one around so i thought maybe i should go home i dont want to have the baby in the park.

Since i got home theyve carried on about every 5 mins? Has anyone else had this and then theyve gone away or might it be labour? I know they started in my back with my little girl but i was late then so i was pretty sure it was labour xx

I may be totally wrong here but i read that if you have more than 4 in an hour you should call your midwife, maybe just do that anyway to be on the safe side? x

I had braxton tightenings coming every 5 mins or so the other day. It went on for about a couple of hours and then went away. I had been nesting like a maniac tho earlier!
I would have been more concerned if they had been painful or stopped me in my tracks to breathe through them.

I had mine every 11 months for 3 hours then they went away, this happens all the time so i just ignore them. No all are painful, some i can ignore but some i have to breath through and rub my tummy. I didnt count the 1 minute ones in between.

I had a bit of a panic last night. I'm 28 weeks btw.

I'd had horrendous toothache and tried all the usual home remedies, in the end I caved in and necked 6 paracetamol (yes, I know, so please don't). Then I had 7 Braxton Hicks with severe menstrual cramps in 35 mins, I really thought I was going to have to call the midwife. I was in such agony. It turned out to be bowel related and after relieving one's tummy severly. I was fine, the cramps stopped and I fell asleep.

I had these pains last week. Rung MW she told me it was slow labor. The next day i was fine i actually felt fantastic with no pains, or feeling rough. Am sat here again getting them but i think its just when i do too much walking etc x

I would definately phone the MW or labour ward and just check with them to distinguish if they are BH or the real thing. :hugs:

I get 'attacks' like this when I'm tired or dehydrated. It's only likely to be labour if they get stronger and stronger and if they don't go away after you have relaxed for a few hours. I can get them every few mins in the evenings and have to just go to sleep and ignore them. I figure if they get stronger they will wake me up and then I'll see if they are labour!

Yep I'd ring MW hun... ours at our antenatal class says we must call if ur getting the 411 - 4 contractions, lasting 1 minute each every 1 hour! x

I get them at least for 2 hours a day normally around 8 - 10 minutes apart - had this for the last 3 couple of weeks - so annoying as keep thinking it might be time!
If I have a bath or lie down they seem to ease off. My MW has advised me to only call in now if they start to get painful or my waters break....
Apparently mine are due to an irritable uterus. Nice!

This is supposed to be the rule, but it doesn't work for a lot of women. I rang my MW when I fell into this category with my first pregnancy and all she could do was tell me to go to L&D, so I went 3 times between 23-27weeks and was completely stressed out about pre-term labour. I think she just has to tell me that in case, so I stopped ringing.

This time I have just ignored them unless they do start to change intensity, or they don't go away when you change activity. I have to go by the rule to ignore them unless they get, longer, stronger and more painful over time.

I had them like that on Saturday at one point some were coming every 3 mins, it went on for about 4 hours and then just went. I did umm and ahh about going in to the hospital but thought I would see how it went.

Thanks, I am just leaving it to see how they go. If it's labour they'l get worse so il just wait and see. I really cant be bothered going the hospital for about 2 hours and them say no it's fine go away ha. I'll just wait, even if it was at this stage they'd probably send me home anyway. xx

I've just got back from a check up at the hospital and whilst I was hooked up on the monitor we could see that I was getting BHs every 5 mins. Apparently it unfortunately meant nothing for me. xx

I think it might be if your contractions are 4 minutes apart, one minute long lasting for an hour....

The other day I had 1 min long contractions about 5 minutes apart which lasted for about 8 hours. Called L&D and they said that if it was real labour, the contractons should stop me in my tracks... Though it's a good sign, it means your body is getting ready!!!!
