Hey everyone, can anyone recommend a good breast pump, I have the Avent hand breast pump from whe I had DS but I have just cleaned it and tested it out and its not working properly... if Im going to invest in a new one I want one thats pretty good lol x

Hi first timer here but I got the medela electric pump as read really good reviews but not tested it yet so cant confirm that.

I used the avent electric one last time - worked pretty well for me.

i asked this on the breast feeding forum and they thought the medala swing x

I have no experience of any others, but I loved the tommee tippee manual breast pump so much that when I ended up melting it in the microwave (woops) I bought it again and then saw it on sale for only £12 so bought another just in case! I think you can get them for £16 from Boots. I use the Tommee Tippee bottles though, so maybe that's also why I find it so easy.

I used the medela mini electric with DS. I had an avent hand pump which was pretty useless. I didn't do a lot of expressing so didn't want to spend a fortune on an electric pump, think mine was about £50. I'll be using it again this time.

Thanks everyone, I am gonna have a look on ebay tonight and see if i cant get one cheap ;-)

xx

Hi hon

have you thought about renting direct from medela? I think its about £40 a month but for that you get a double electric hospital grade pump identical to the ones we rent out direct from the hospital.
They do next day delivery as well so you can leave it right up to the last minute.
Thats my plan as all the Mums who have used them really reckon they do well with them!! xxx

Ooh I havent thought of renting one, Im going to havea look tonight. I expressed only a little with DS but think I will have to do it a lot more this time round as DS starts school on Monday and I need my OH to help out more with the baby (I think he is secretly pleased)

Thanks x

I am pretty sure that I had one of these and sold it on Ebay when I wasnt using it more, if memory serves me right I think it was really good (I definitely didnt use the manual breast pump) but you are right, its soooo expensive! x
