Hi Ladies :flower:

I am popping in from 3rd tri with a question I am hoping someone may be able to help me with

I've had breast augmentation surgery, and when I had all my consultations I was told I would still be able to breastfeed with no problems. Of course, now the time is coming up when this is going to be put to the test and i'm a little nervous!!

Is there anyone on here who can tell me whether or not I can expect problems etc... or if this will make the experience of breastfeeding any different?

If you'd rather PM then that's fine, I know not everyone wants to admit to the world they've had surgery.

Thanks ladies, hope I haven't offended anyone or anything  :flower:

Some really good info here:

https://www.llli.org/FAQ/surgery.html

But basically, it depends on a lot of factors, and you probably won't know for sure until baby is here. Once you get closer to your due date, you may get some leakage or be able to express some colostrum which would indicate the BF will be fine, but not everyone leaks so it's not a reliable way to tell.

You're more likely to be able to BF after an augmentation than breast reduction though.

Thanks CocoaOne, I will have a read.

I leak a little from one breast already, well I think it's leaking. It's like a white/yellowish substance which has gone a bit crusty over my nipple (tmi sorry!) and it always seems to come back however many times I clean it off. It never occured to me before now, that this may mean I am OK. I hope my other breast starts now!!

Thanks again for the info :)

That's what I had around 24 weeks ish, then nothing until I gave birth. I'm sure you'll be fine!
