I've got a temperature and bad cold. Will Poppy have antibodies for this or is she likely to get it? Also could that have effected my milk supply? (she's seemed less satisfied on me since i've been feeling rough)

thanks!

Bizarrely when i had a cold my milk supply went up!

Keep feeding her - she'll get the antibodies then. xx

What she said! Make sure you look after yourself and there's no reason for your supply to be affected. :)

Caitlyn gets what I get but it goes really quickly for both of us!

:hugs:

When Daniel was around 3 months old I got the most terrible flu. I could hardly get out of bed...So I thought that I (well, my mum who was with me at the time) will give him bottles for a few days.
Guess what - when before he took bottle with no problems now all he wanted was mummy and boobs!
I was dead scared that he is gonna get the infection as well as he literally was on my boobs 24. But not only he didn't get anything, I got over the cold much quicker then I thought. That was the moment when I started to be a great believer in bf.

Your booby milk producing antibodies. So when you breastfeed during the cold your baby becomes sort of immune to that cold. So just keep on breastfeeding and have plenty of rest

You should eat and drink plenty to keep your energy levels up and feed bubs as normal honey. Rest up too.

I got tonsillitis when Lauren (my eldest) was just a couple of months old. OMG I had no idea it could affect you like that. I couldn't stand up even....it was a nightmare but I only had to pull her out of her crib next to the bed to feed her and she slept nearly all the day anyway....good job. If I was bottle feeding I would have been knackered coz I couldn't have made it downstairs to get one:dohh:. Hubby had just started a new job that week so couldn't take any time off and I had no friends in the area to help....it makes me feel ill just thinking about it.

I hope you get well soon babe:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

I know when I feel bad I tend to stop drinking and eating so much..so if your like that that could by why your supply dropped, be sure to eat right still and drink lots of fluids, for your supply but also to help you get better. She might get it but your body is making antibodies as it fights off what you have and she is getting those so if she gets it she will most likely get a milder form or will recover pretty quickly

We all got colds on a recent trip and I wound up with a nasty sinus infection that needed antibiotics. I was sure I was going to infect Simon. There was no way I wasn't exposing him the way my sinuses were draining (sorry, tmi!). Anyway, he got the mildest case of sniffles.
I definitely believe it was breast milk antibodies. He's such a strong healthy baby. He gets some formula supplementation because I had a whole bunch of complications that caused my milk supply to go down. But breast milk is the bulk of his diet and he is flourishing.
I feel healthy as a horse, too!
