Breech Baby?

I've just got back from midwife and she thinks izzy is breech :/!

She couldnt find the heartbeat very clearly down low where it should be but found it as clear as day up above my belly button and thinks that she could be breech.

They are sending me for a scan on friday to figure out her position.

Has anyone else had a heartbeat high up and it ended up being a normal position.

She also said that she is really low down and that her bottom/head is just resting in my pelvis.

Also has anyone who had a breech baby what type of birth did you have? she said you have the choice of vaginal or c-section but pulled a face when she mentioned the vaginal one. Has anyone done it naturally?

x

I haven't done it but I know that it can be done naturally, although it'll need careful monitoring. Good luck for your scan though, maybe she'll have turned x

My grandma wasborn premature AND breech! So it definitely can be done! This was 70 something years ago too!! Here they won't preform breech births in hospitals anymore
I hope she's turned for you :)

apparently there are 4 different types of position of breech, 2 can be delivered naturally and 2 have to be done by c-section.

Im trying to read up as much about it as i can to prepare myself even if she does end up being breech atleast ill know what to expect.

my son was breech at 37 weeks , and i had a scan and ECV booked at 38 weeks, but he had turned the little monkey :D They should offer you an ECV if your baby is breech, where they try and turn the baby xx

I hope she turns or isnt breech =]

i have read online that ECV's can cause miscarriage because it can cause the cord to go round the babies neck :/ i was kind of hoping someone would come in who has experience with having one done.

I hope she isnt too. :)

xx

Oh good :) I hope she's turned!! I was butt first, and my moms doctor turned me... My mom said it hurt like hell but he did it, then but a bell so it sort of dangled by my moms hips n jingled every movement because he said that I wouldn't wanna move away from the bell!!

Skye, the bell thing really worked?? Crazy!

Charlotte, my niece was breech. They didn't give my sister an option, she had to have a c-section. It definitely been done, and can be... I think they just advise against it in the States. Depends on where you're from, I reckon.

Good luck! :flow:

Well I never turned back around so I guess it worked! Hahah. They like stood above her belly and pushed n turned me around!! :o

My LO is fully engaged and head down unless they just haven't told me something and the MW always finds the heart beat high up. Good luck though, hope the MW is wrong!

my son was breech he wont budge at all
my midwife could feel his head touching my rib cage and was
confirmed by a scan at 37 weeks
i needed a c section because his posistion was very akward

yeah my midwife said what she thought was a bottom was really high up and not as soft as she would usually think a bottom was so she wants it confirmed.

i have most of my movements really low down and either side so i dunno if that means anything.

me and FOB have decided we aren't going to have a ECV if she is breech though

xx

I'm currently in frank breech (bum down and legs above the head), given until 6th Sept (34+6) for her to turn around, if not then I'll be having a section. Her heartbeat was around my belly button.

You can give naturally whilst breech, but it does make things more complicated.

your having a section at 34 weeks or they are just going to arrange it then?

where abouts do you feel most of your movements? xx

That's the day my scan and appointment is and they will be discussing it with me then, but more than likely do one (if needed) during week 35, depending on the spaces in theatre.

I've not had much movement at all but when I do, it's around the middle to top of my belly, but I'm constantly stuck with a head in my ribs one side and have little pokes around the other. I can't sit with my legs crossed and lean forward.

She managed to budge a few minutes and lay horizontal like (---) but then I had a feeling like a brick hit my pelvis: Thought she engaged properly, turns out she's head up again :(

hi im michelle and im 32+4 days with my little boy :) when i went to the midwife last week she told me he was messuring smaller than average but this could be because he was breech, i was at the hospital yesterday for a scan and hes messuring bang on what he should be but he is lying breech. :o i was told by the doctor if he is still breech by time im 36 weeks i'll have to go back and they will try and turn him :o the she said if that doesnt work they'll have to book me in for a section and its the safest way for a breech baby to be born, however if i go in fully dialated ready to push him out they would have to deliver him naturally but it could be risky :o i hope this helps :) xxxx

When I was pregnant with Mady, she was breech at 36 weeks (I think). My doctor told me that they could either try to turn her, but that there were risks involved with that or I could schedule a c-section. I scheduled a c-section for 38 weeks because I didn't want the risks involved with trying to turn her. However, at my 37 week appointment, Mady had actually flipped the right way.

I know the hospital I go to won't even attempt vaginal deliveries of breech babies because there's a high chance of having an emergency c-section.
