Anyone have these for their little one? I was reading this month's Scientific American and they have a feature on toys and bristle blocks were recommended.

They're stickle bricks. My brother loved them when he was little and had loads. if you get some be careful not to stand on them as it hurts.

Woo Hooo :happydance:

I don't know if they are still called stickle bricks but they certainly were when I was a child

I used to love them when I was little ... unlike lego/duplo/mega blocks they can be stuck together in all sorts of different ways so they are much more versatile. I have very fond memories of me, my elder sister and our brother building 'Walkie Talkies' out of them on weekend mornings .... which entailed shouting very loudly at 6am while our parents were trying to sleep

RHR is right though - they bloody hurt when you stand on them!

they are quite expensive from what I can see, I have always got Oliver mega blocks when they are on special offer.

We were talking about these the other day, didn't realise you could still get them. I had them as a kid and would love for Tom to have some. :D

Megan got some for her bday from my brother and she loves them! They had a different name on the package though... Ill see if I can find it.

My son does not have them but we went to his great-grandmas house at the weekend and she got my husbands old toys out which included these. He liked them although was not really building with them, by husband on the other hand was still quite impressed by them. :haha:

I had these as a child and loved them :) I remember having "heads" for them too - a man and a woman, and I used to make them into super heroes and stuff. I keep meaning to get something along these lines for Roo, but always forget

"Sticklebricks" are not made any more, though some suppliers still have stocks. I discovered this 2 months ago when fruitlessly searching Google to buy some for our boy for Christmas. :( There are alternatives, though not so many available in the UK.

I ended up buying Clipo from ToysRUs instead.

Lucas has stickle bricks ad loves them. He got them for his birthday - they are quite dear new though.

We have them in the nursery I work
At the kids love them they are fab x
