Morning ladies.

I haven't been on in some time... have my hands full with a 13 months old, 3 year old, 12 year old and my fella has just gone self employed!!

But despite this i'd like your input if possible please.

My 13 months hasnt really had much fun in her life and has now got bronchiolitis

She is relatively ok in herself although her eating is poor and her drinking levels arent fab. She will eat chocolate, the odd biscuit and better still banana and yoghurt. She's having maybe 2 juice cups a day. Morning nappy just now was damp, had not a lot in it...

We have now got back to her throwing up phlegm on a morning. I know this is good as she is getting rid of the crap but its like de-ja-vu... She had whooping cough at 8 weeks...

Has anyone got any ideas, or experience with bronchiolitis so that I can help her better? I used a calpol plug in last night and she did seem to have a better night all be it until she was sick this morning...

Help/advice anyone? Much appreciated...

TIA x

Humidifiers are amazing you can pick one up in Argos I'd really recommend you try one in her room at night x hope she feels better soon my 2 have both had it it's horrid xxxxx

My DD had that as a baby - it's horrible. Try elevating her head a bit as she sleeps (e.g. a rolled up towel under the mattress) to help clear the airways.

How long has she had it for? It usually peaks at day 5 and then she should start improving. Try running a really hot bath/shower and let her stand in the bathroom so she is in the steam (obviosuly not in the water!), elevate her bed/cot mattress, rub vicks on her feet and then put socks on. If she's not getting better after day 5 see your gp. My LO has been hospitalised with it twice, the second time she was given anti biotics for it as it was bacterial rather than viral. Obviously if she is having difficulty breathing or is becoming dehydrated then get her seen straight away. Hope she feels better soon :) :hugs: xx

We despise bronchiolitis in this house DD has had it 8 times last winter and 1 so far this year. She is so sick with it she ends up in hospital on oxygen everytime. its awful.

No other advice than whats been given except to keep a close eye, it can go downhill quickly if it is going to so don't hesitate to see a doctor if you feel she is getting steadily worse. Also a god fluid replacement thing you can buy over the counter is dioralyte. it helps to replace fluids and other essential nutrients as well DD used to get this instead of milk when she was vomiting badly with it. It was the only thing she could keep down.

My son had this very bad last winter and ended up in hospital with sats of 82%. It took a long while to get over it then me and my partner came down with it!!

I can only suggest keeping a close eye, giving bland foods perhaps so if she is sick it's not as harsh on her stomach. Make sure you keep an eye on her breathing Thomas got to the point where he was sucking in his belly completely as he found it so hard to draw in a breath.

Hope she's better soon :hugs:

My oldest had this at 5 monhths and my youngest just got over a nasty bout and was hospitalised with sats of 73, went home after 3 days and she has recovered very well.

Unfortunately its every common this time of year but usually affects small babies the worst. It peaks at about 5 days and the cough can last a few weeks, also makes them more susceptible to a bad chest every time they have a cold. I was told to raise the head of the bed at night and use a plug in. Also run the shower hot and put them in the bathroom.

My dd1 had pneumonia at 15 months and bronchitis at 18 months and both times she stopped eating and drinking alot, I was told not to worry too much about food as most children stop eating a huge amount when ill and to just offer things they like (my dd only ate dry crackers for a month with the pneumonia). Does she still have milk? I was told to offer it more often and if its cows milk to pop some water in it to make sure she was getting enough fluid.

The things to look out for are no wet nappies in 8 hrs, a bulging fontanel and chest recession (a sign she is working too hard to breathe).

I reallt hope she feels better soon and has a good night. Chest infections are the worst and so worrying. Xx
