Just been bought a Bumbo seat as a gift and wondered who else has got/planning to get one?

Obviously it can't be used until LO can support her own neck so I'll have to wait a while to 'test it out'.

I've heard there are some disadvantages to them; mainly their short life span because as soon as LO can shuffle herself around, the seat will be useless. Is this true?

I've got one for my LO and bought one for my SIL as well (she's having her baby in 14 days).

I've heard they do have a bit of a short life span due to the baby moving around in it as well, but I've herd they are still worth it.

My sister is going to get me one, i didnt get one last but i think for a while it will be incredibly usesful.

I'd never even heard of a bumbo seat til i moved to germany and everyone here has one. I cant see baby being in them that often so i doubt id buy one but if you got it as a gift then all good i guess. xx

anyone have a link for one of these, as im clueless as to what it is:dohh:

i bought a bumbo seat for my son and started using it when he was about 4 1/2 months he never really enjoyed sitting in it untill about 7 months when he bagan to tip it over. they are a great idea and are perfect if you have a baby that doesnt mind sitting. i think joshua was just full of beans so it wasnt much good for him. i have spoken to other mummys who loved theirs as did their lo x

We've got one and found it very useful, you can even buy little trays which can be handy for when they start weaning (though we didnt bother).

The only disadvantage is that you really need to watch once baby gets strong as I do know of some children that have managed to topple it over while sitting in it.

I've been given one of these. And to be honest, I hate the thing!!

Its quite high off the ground, I'm wondering how LO will be able to play. My niece wasn't in hers for long. And she could only sit in it.

I think I'm going to get a 'C' shaped play nest thingy. At least then I know she has a place to play.

Sounds good! I was worried that it might be a bit gimicky.

thanks for the link. not my personal kind of thing, we wont be getting one for bubs

My neice loved hers so much and it gave her mum a little bit of freedom to make dinner etc, so i have bought one already. It was second hand from a friend of a friend and had never been used (some babies do hate them!) so i thought it was worth a try. Pluuus, my SIL bought hers on ebay and then sold it on there for more than she'd paid, so it's not a bad investment for 15 quid :haha:

I got a second hand one from ebay as they dont get used much so didnt want to pay the price tag! Got it for a fiver! Bargiain!

hey,

Im not sure what the Bumbo seats are like, but for those who are worried about them toppling over, I saw these at the baby show and they seemed awesome! Just thought I would share! :)

Thought they would be quite cool for picnics! :flower:

I am getting one for my baby shower (I cheated and looked at the things bought off my registry lol) and I've heard they are amazing but for the price I think I might have rather had something else tbh, mainly because of the life span of them.
I havent decided if I should keep it because it was a gift and I dont want to hurt anyones feelings, or if I should take it back and get something that I need more....here they are almost $100 with the tray :o

Ive already got one ready and waiting, my sisters LO loved it and i think it was quite possibly the most used thing she bought!

i wish they were around when my older 3 were babies!

my brother and his girlfriend are buying me one as a gift...i wouldnt have paid the price for it myself because babies either love them or hate them and i didnt want to risk it although i do really want one for LO so as a gift it's awesome! x

I have one ready for bubs, They seem great to be honest!

Give's baby a little independance, and they're also good for that transitional stage when they are too dinky for a high chair but are going into solids, and need something to prop themselves up with. x

I got one today - second hand for £10. I wouldn't buy a new one, due to financial restrictions but £10 sounded good. I figure I can always ebay it if baby doesn't like it or I don't use it much!
