How many of you will be using bumpers for their cots or cribs(small swinging ones) . There is some concern about suffocation but why do they sell them everywhere?? Not sure what to do crib looks quite bare without. Any advice ??

As much as I think that they look nice I've decided against it. I like the idea of plenty of air circulating around the baby and once they get to standing up stage a lot of babies climb on them to get out of the cot.

My bumper has a gap maybe 2inches at the bottom all around, so if baby does roll over its not gonna suffocate against the bumper, hope that helps xx

mine comes with the bedding so i'm still unsure, but I probably won't use it when there sleeping just a decoration when there not in there

Oh and i dont actually have mine the traditional way of it being at the head and sides, as i couldnt see baby when he was sleeping from my bed to check on him, so i have mine tied along the back of the cot which is against the wall. (the long side of the cot) so there is no chance of suffocation and still looks lovely.....best of both worlds!!

I will be using our bumper until he gets to the point where it may be more of a danger then a help (like crawling on it), then will probably remove it. We have an older crib and the bars aren't the new standards, so I want to use a bumper in case he tries to stick his hand or foot through the bars, or worse...his head.
