Hi. So ive allready had an emergency c section six years ago so I now have the choice to have a planned section allthough my heart was set on another section im really worried as I heard it can damage your bladder ? Ive had a sensitive bladder for years so its really playing on my mind. Any advice ?

I've not heard this before. I had a csection last time (hoping to avoid this time as I can't imagine being immobile with a 2 year old but we will see!) And I had no bladder problems!

hi

I had an EMCS with DS and I remember at the time being thrust a bit of paper to sign that said there was a 1 in 10,000 chance of them nicking my bowel or bladder and that I was accepting the risk by signing. I didn't really have much choice but to sign as DS was in trouble!

I'm in the same boat as you re deciding whether to have a repeat section or try for a VBAC. I have a strong feeling that I will end up needing a section anyway as this baby is already in a bit of an odd position and I have a strange shaped uterus that seems to encourage a transverse lie. But I think i'm going to try for a VBAC just to avoid the inability to drive or lift anything for 6 weeks. I live in the countryside with no pavements on the rural roads that are accessible within walking distance, and not being able to drive is quite debilitating/claustrophobic with a newborn.

Ohno it is a hard decision, thanks for the facts on that well 1 in 10.000 is very rare. I heard that it can effect bladder when it heals over too allthese things do worry me but also the thought of pushing a big baby out is scarey too. My boy was 8,15 born and im only small framed lol, i was the smallest mum in hospital with the biggest baby haha. I dont drive so for me that isnt an issue and my hubby will have 2-3 weeks off work to help , the only thing is walking to school after he goes back to work but i might ask my friend to take him for a week as she only lives down road and they are in the same class :) x

I had a EMCS with DD in 2011 and honestly, my bladder went pants. If I was in water (bath or swimming) I'd uncontrollably leak afterwards. I've only just managed to go back to normal within the past 6-7 months. For the past 2 days I've sneezed and trickled so that's giving bad signs already.

I've plucked up the courage for another (thought of eruption terrified me) and now I'm aiming for a VBAC, but if I was to go in for an ECS I'd be a lot more prepared physically and mentally this time. I had an "okay" recovery, managed to move house 2 and half weeks after having DD and that included lifting heavy furniture. But I heard repeat sections have quicker recovery times?

Do you think that could be your pelvic floor being week though? just due to carrying baby? Ive been doing my excersises like mad this time lol x

I have no idea, possibly. Everytime I do pelvic floors it gives me shivers down my spine but in an enjoyment way (tmi) probably doing them wrong for that to happen lol. I try to stop my flow and hold for a few seconds when going to the toilet and I can easily do that.

lol it does feel strange, i find it best sitting up right on a chair and just squeeze and hold lol, i do this for a couple of mins, 3 times a day x

OK, so I am a medical biller so I get to see all kinds of chart notes as it relates to sending appeals and such. I don't see all chart notes I just see the ones with billing problems - so it could be just the ones I see seem this way... BUT my peice of advise as far as the nicking/cutting open your bladder or bowls... If you know what doctor will be doing the surgery, ask for his/her stats on that. Some doctors are worse than others. If you don't know who exactly will be doing it, ask for your hospital's general number of times that happens. 1 in 10000 does not seem like an accurate number to me at all.... just saying.....

As far as just general bladder problems goes - I don't really know a lot about that. Having babies in general can do that to you. Expecially if you don't listen to your doctor and mind the 12-16 weeks no :sex: and no lifting anything hevier than your baby. You may feel like you can before that, but really all of your muscles need time to recover.
