Hi Girls!

I just found out yesterday that my doctor wants to move up my C-section due to possible complications from placenta previa. It is now scheduled to be performed when I am 37 + 2. I have had some bleeds, and he does not want to risk me going into labor on my own. My daughter had a routine vaginal birth at exactly 37 weeks, and she was perfect and healthy, but this time around I am nervous that 37+2 is too early.

I was hoping some of you may have had experiences with a section around 37 weeks. How did it go? Was baby okay? I would love some reassurance, as I am feeling quite anxious now.

I had my first baby at 35 weeks via C-section. He was perfectly healthy. The only concern they seemed to have about his health after birth was that I hadn't had my 37 week group b strep test. Because I hadn't had this test, he did have to be on antibiotics just as a precaution in case I was positive for it. You may have already had this test though.

C-sections are a little scary if you've never had one before. Usually good surgery staff will make you feel pretty comfortable & let you know what's going on at all times though. I think baby & you should be just fine :)

I had my daughter on Monday at 37w4d. She is perfectly healthy.

The section itself was not nice but it went routinely. I didn't feel any pain and they were fabulous about giving me meds as soon as I told them I felt sick. I just hated being so powerless. My little girl latched and fed within 10 minutes of birth and has been doing well since.

Emergency c-section at 37+2 and baby was fine. She was small but strong…no NICU needed. I think it'll be okay.

I had an elcs at 36 +4 and my LO is doing great at 5 week's old. She got a little jaundice and struggled with feeding a tiny bit coz she used to get too sleepy before she'd had enough milk but is bf well now

I wouldn't be at all worried about my baby being born at that time, section or otherwise - just a little before due date :)

I too have just been diagnosed with placenta previa today, with the caution that I may need a c-section at 37 weeks, so I am right with you. This was the result of my 20-week ultrasound. I came on here so upset, but after reading these few replies, I already feel better :) I have been online all night reading about placenta previa, and it just seems so ominous. I'm so happy to hear about 37-week c-sections going so well in terms of baby's health, no NICU and latching after only 10 minutes! Amazing! Good luck to you :)

Went into labour at 37+1 & bub was fine....he was big for that gestation at 7lbs 2oz. The only issue I had was my uterus did not contract down quickly & I lost over a litre of blood but that was just me & would have happened at any time
