Hey everyone, I am new to this site and am in my second trimester. My name is Meaghan, and at the moment I am experiencing some mental distraught.
Obviously, horomones play a huge role in pregnancy, but I am very emotional in general. I just got a call back from the hospital ultrasound center, where last week, I received one to find out the gender of my baby and get the anatomy viewed & measured. (I'm having a baby girl btw)! :)

Well today I got the phone call stating I have another ultrasound appt. for the 23rd of this month due to the clarity of my previous ultrasound of my baby's kidneys. Apparently it is not clear enough and they need to do a follow-up ultrasound. I asked the receptionist who called, if it's something to be worried about and she said no, that it happens quite often.

But, when I went for my ultrasound, the radiologist said my baby was showing very clear even for being curled up in a ball... kind of makes me think
contradiction. And now my mind is jumping from bad thought to bad thought.

No one that I know personally has been called back to double check something in an ultrasound, and I would love it if someone could inform me of this, and tell me if you have had the same happen to you?

Thanks so much!

~Meaghan

hello congrats on your pregnancy :) well i had the complete opposite the lady didnt tell me anything and when looking through my notes after my ultrasound it said i had a subchronic bleed so i rang up the next day to find out and they said it was fine and it should go away but im sure that everythings okay if they said that it just wasnt clear enough thats probley all it is i wouldnt worry too much x

Hello Meaghan and congrats on your pregnancy, i didn't want to read and run and don't have any answers but i wish you all the best and let us know how it goes :)

Hey chick! I had to go back so they could see the chambers of the heart. Don't worry at all, sometimes baby lays in a funny position so they can't see what they need to at the time.

If there was something to be concerned about they would have discussed it with you at the time. Take it easy and don't worry! :flower: (Easier said than done, I know!)

Congrats on your baby hun :) I'm sure its just something they forgot to check. Usually when the doctor looks back at the notes they look through all the scans and if the doctor saw the tech forgot something they will make you come back in for a check. Just to be sure. I wouldn't worry to much hun its good they are so efficient :hugs:

Don't worry, I have to go back in a couple of weeks cos they couldn't see the spine properly, baby was in an awkward position. Nothing to worry about, I know it's hard though. xx

Congratulations! try not to worry, I have read of loads of people on here having to go back for scans to get clearer pictures of things. It wasn't because something was wrong, it genuinely was because they couldnt get a clear enough view x

dont worry its normal, i have to go back in 2 weeks time cos although he saw the 4 heart chambers he couldnt get a close enough look as baby kept putting his arm in the way & wouldnt play ball, he did the heart beat & said he has a strong healthy heart, its just to cover their own backs x :)

Don't worry! I had my 20 week and going back at 25 weeks.

They want to retake pics of the kidneys, too! I'm sure they are just sooo tiny, so maybe this is a common thing! They didn't seem concerned.

But honestly, the more important reason for me going back is the possibility I may have a low-lying placenta.

I had my 20 week ultrasound August 19, and I have a follow up booked for next Monday Sept. 13. They couldn't get a good look at my little guy's face, because they check for cleft pallette. At least we get another ultrasound, I am hoping this time it is beter quality.

They also want to check my placenta because I have a low lying anterior placenta, it is like 1cm from my cervix. They want to see if it has moved.

Good luck to both of us. I hope ours move!

Me too. Placenta is on the edge of the cervix, but will hopefully move. I had my us at 17+2 and I have to go back at 21 weeks because they couldnt' see the nose bone, the kidneys, the spine or the 4 chambers properly. I freaked out when they told me that. But it's not that they think they're not there they just couldn't get a clear pic. 17 was too early, don't know why I had a scan then..

I got called back because they caught my placenta issue a few days later cuz the doc reviewed the ultrasound

Sounds to me like you may have had a fairly newly qualified sonographer, they have to have everything checked that they have done for a while. I imagine they took some measurements etc that are not clear enough and their senior staff picked that up.

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, and you should look forward to seeing your baby girl again, let us know how you get on if you haven't already been, didn't scroll throuh the rest of the thread.

My hubbie's friend was called back fro kidneys, just to remeasure. Think it common. try not to worry. xxxxx

Hi Meaghan! Firstly congrats on your little girl.! I owuldnt worry about this, I had to go back previously as the scan wasnt too clear on my 12 week. x

I wouldn't worry i had to go be called back for another scan as Scarlett was in an awquard position to measure spine etc, everything was fine though, just meant i got to see her on screen again :D xx
