My LO has always only ever wanted to nap for 30mins, it used to be 'awake every 2 hours and nap for 30 mins'

hes now dropped a few naps, still has 30 min naps, sometimes only 20mins.

I know all about sleep cycles, and have tried all the tricks in the book to help him carry on, but he cant, so ive excepted that the way he is.

So my question to all you mummies of the 30 min nappers, do you struggle to get all your jobs round the house done?, because i do!.
While LO is awake i sit there prioritising what needs to be done 1st and and what i can fit into 20-30 mins!.
Im only on BnB if hes in his jumperoo:haha:

Occassionally if i have jobs in the kitchen /diner/utility i'll put him in his highchair if hes happy to be in it for a while, and wheel him around, i cant leave him on his play mat as he rolls off everywhere.

So how much do you get done?

Jacob doesn't even have 30mins. He's awake all day, or he'll asleep if we're out in the pram but wakes up as soon as you get home.

I try & do housework when he's distracted for 10mins, or I do it when DH gets in from work or when both kids are in bed.

oh wow!! thats even worse!! well done you though!!

Well mines been asleep for an hour now... Stupid stupid mummy has sat and watched last nights strike back and now wasting time on b&b!! So much to do but honestly can't be arsed.... !!
I usually don't sleep after LO wakes for his mid-night feed so I can sometimes get up about 4/5 and blitz the downstairs. Amazing hiw much you get done not having to sing songs and trying to entertain a whiney baby at the same time!!

Mine not only won't sleep longer than 40 mins at a push, but I have to rock her to sleep and hold her the whole nap with a toddler running havoc! The only way I've retained my sanity and a semi clean/tidy house is to pop the baby in a meitai as she drops off to sleep quicker than just holding her then I pretty much have both hands free to do housework and sort out my toddler while she sleeps. She's also happy staying in the meitai whilst awake for long periods as she likes feeling snuggly and watching what goes on so I can often get stuff done that way.

I also make sure I do the urgent/key stuff before sitting down once both girls in bed for the night so I can then have an hour or two for me with a clear mind

I just wanted to let you know that it does get better. My LO was like this too - I read EVERY baby book on the market, understood sleep cycles etc, tried to get him to move from one sleep cycle to the next without waking etc etc and nothing worked. I drove myself mad!

You'll find as they get older that they gradually start to drop naps here and there, and once they consolidate their naps they do eventually become longer.

My LO now sleeps for up to 2 hours in the morning and 30 mins in the afternoon, whereas at your LOs age he would have probably had 3/4 x 30 mins sleeps each day

It will get better!

Fin went from 4 30 min naps a day to 2 1.5 hr naps a day by himself at about 5.5 months. Most do start to nap longer as they get older - most but not all.

I'd plan my day the day before and know what jobs I wanted to do in each one. The problem would be if I say down in between because as soon as I kne it he'd be awake again and I'd have pissed away the 30 mins without realising lol xx

Wow you mean there are other babies out there that only nap for 30mins! I thought my LO was the only one lol!
TBH she is good while she is awake so i can strap her in her bouncer and she will just sit there looking at her toys. I find it harder to do stuff when she naps cuz i always end up waking her up accidently lol. Ive started to put her down for naps in her moses upstairs so i dont disturb her so much, although with 3/4 naps a day i feel im constantly going up and down stairs!

I agree with the getting better. My lg is now almost 19mth. from birth to 8 month she wouldnnt sleep more than 40 minutes. Then one day i pout her down for her normal 40 min nap and she woke 2hrs later. ever since then she has slept 2hrs at a time. my newborn is almost 13 weeks. she only has 40 minute naps. But she is happy to watch me do housework.

Katelyn will only nap between 20 - 30mins. Sometimes she only has 1 nap a day and STILL only sleeps that long and STILL dont sleep through the night lol.

I find it easy tho to do house work, well flat for us.
our kitchen and living room is one big room and just cut of by half a wall. and just got a long hallway. so i can keep my eye on her and do most of the work.
Thats until she starts touching things she shouldnt lol

My LO is 5 months old and will only nap for 20 mins in her bouncer but if I take her up into our bed (where we all sleep at night) she'll nap for 2 hours - BUT ONLY if I stay with her. So I get extra sleep but it means the house doesnt get done at all x

i have no advice but my LO sleeps 20mins in morning and 20mins in evening- i do not know how she stays awake!!!! She sleeps 12 hrs at night so i shouldnt complain- but a nice coffee when shes asleep would be lovely lol
