Came off Depo and...

Hey everyone,

So I was due for my last shot on Oct.4, 2013 and decided to go off Depo to get my body back to normal. I am not TTC currently, but I do want my body and cycles back to normal of which I heard can take a while to get back in sync.

I was lucky, December my period came back the regular 4 days long but they were 2 and 1/2 weeks apart, which is wonky. There was a bit of a hiccup with my cycle on February 7th where I was just spotting (never got period that time) but ever since that hiccup my periods have been coming regular! So now, ever since February 27, 2014 my periods have been 4 days long and 3 weeks and 4 days apart. My cycle has been 28 days for the past 2 months and currently have my period right now!!

I am just wondering, since my period has been normal these last two months if that means my period is coming to a normal cycle, or should I still expect for it to go out of wack again?

I also purchase a BBT, which is not here yet but I am going to start tracking my temperatures as well as tracking my periods.

Does my cycle sound hopeful to anyone?

I wasn't on depo but I was on the mini pill, I came off it in October 2012, my periods were right on time for about 9 months, then all of a sudden they are going crazy, ranging from 26-40 days!

You are doing the right thing though, I have been tracking everything and it really does help you to get to know your body.

If your having regular cycles id pop to doc and ask to have your ovulation checked as can have periods return but still no ovulation for months after. You done best thing getting off and getting your body ready can take awhile.

Thanks Ladies, honestly I was scared about Depo screwing up my fertility as I have been on it so long. Luckily I never had any bad episodes with being on Depo. It was perfect for me, however hearing all of the other horror stories it sure has me worried.

So can you just go into your regular doctor to get your ovulation checked? Or do you have to see a specialist? Sorry I am clueless with this stuff as I have never tried charting or tried having a baby before.

just see your normal doc if you have one or just any doc. Its a simple blood test, doc should recommend best day to have it on based on your cycle length x

Interesting! I am not TTC but will be in the near future. I don't imagine it will be this year, but next year. I just want to know if I am ovulating or not so that when I do TTC it will be easier!

I came off the depo injection and went onto the combined pill after 8 years of depo. I took the pill for 5 months and then we decided ttc. My periods came back 6 weeks after stopping the pill and I conceived 3 months after that. Good luck

So my next normal period is not due until May 22nd, but I went to the bathroom this morning and a few clots came out in the toilet and one tiny tiny drop of blood (I would hardly call it spotting). But no period as of yet (thank god)....is it normal to have that in between periods? Were those clots old ones that just got out late?? Confused!

I actually am bleeding now lightly, it has been 2 weeks and 2 days since the last day of my last period....ugghhhhh. Guess I am not regulating....yet....

Mine came back 4 months after coming off and that was after 10 years. First cycle in Jan, 28 days later next period. Then 32 days gap, 36 days and 42 days for next 2. When I still hadn't had next after 63 days I did a test and it was positive.
I didn't get regular periods before depot though so I could have been waiting ages!

Before depo, my periods were super on time and only lasted 4 days. Well the four day long periods have stuck with me its just the time in between periods that is wonky.

So I could be ovulating but just not having regular cycles?

thats really great, its a good idea to come off early before ttc, i came off in may 2013 as my last shot. i have had irregular periods since and it has been terrible. i have just had a lot of tests done so will get results back this week, it is a year since my last shot and i have bleed 8 months out of 12 pretty much so fingers crossed this week i find out whats wrong doctor is hoping its thyroid as thats an easy fix
