I got a blood pregnancy test done yesterday at 10dpo. The results were negative, but I'm not convinced they were right.

Is there a chance that the test would give a false negative, especially since it was taken so early?

I would say only if you maybe ov'd later than expected. And your not as far as you think. Otherwise I would say pretty accurate. GL

I'm sure it's pretty accurate, I believe they can tell if hcg is as low as 1...anything below 5 is considered negative, so if you've miscalculated dates it's possible, but unlikely I think. Sorry!

Here is what i found on huggies.com.au:

All the best xo:

3 weeks LMP 5 – 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP 5 – 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP 18 – 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP 1,080 – 56,500 mIU/ml
7-8 weeks LMP 7, 650 – 229,000 mIU/ml
9-12 weeks LMP 25,700 – 288,000 mIU/ml
13-16 weeks LMP 13,300 – 254,000 mIU/ml
17-24 weeks LMP 4,060 – 165,400 mIU/ml
25-40 weeks LMP 3,640 – 117,000 mIU/ml
Women who are not pregnant <5.0 mIU/ml

10 DPO is still early so yes, its possible that you are not far along enough for it to be detected by blood. But if it's negative, then it's negative. I would wait until arleast 14 DPO and then test at home if you dont see a period by then. If you get a positive then go in for another blood.

I second everything everyone has said. Blood tests are really accurate. There's qualitative (yes or no with yes being over 5hcg) and then quantitative (actual number). At 10dpo, your hcg could be too low OR you Oed later. It typically takes 48-72 hours to double, so I'd give it a week and try again. Or if you're like me try a FRER in like 4 days.
