I am craving sushi and hot sauce like nobody's business I know sushi is off limits but is it just because of the raw fish or is there an issue with the seaweed too?
Don't quote me on this.. but i remember seeing an article where it mentioned sushi was ok as long as it was kept at a certain temperature. Grr, its going to bug me now. Hold on will have a look in my magazine .....
There is actually a few sushi you can eat, as long as it doesn't contain actually raw fish or as long as its deep fried If I am craving I usually eat california rolls because all they have (thats "fish") is fake crab.. so its not even real crap/fish lol if you have a local sushi restaurant just ask exactly what is in the sushi/ rolls
Ahh ok found it!! That wasn't too hard lol. So its an article in Mother&Baby (will post a photo so you can see for yourself also, hope you can read it from the angle) It says: If you're having a baby, now's the time to indulge in your craving for fish fingers. New research has revealed that eating fish helps lower anxiety in pregnancy, thanks to the omega 3 fatty acids it contains. Just make sure you stick to the new seafood rules... Don't overdo it. Limit Tuna to no more then four cans a week. Avoid shark and swordfish, as they contain mercury. Do cook it. Fish and shellfish should be fresh and cooked through. Smoked fish such as salmon is fine. Don't avoid sushi. If it's been frozen at -20C for 24 hours, its fine to eat. All chain restaurants will do this. Do get your portions right. As part of a healthy diet, two portions of white fish and one oily per week can reduce stress. Then there is a side note that states .... 'In pregnancy, don't eat more then two portions of oily fish, such as salmon , mackerel and sardines per week. ' Hope that helps
Ive eaten sushi....the veg kind, tuna and prawn but thats all. And only in small amounts....far as I know thats fine everything in moderation! x
I'm loving shrimp tempura rolls now! On Maui, plenty mommas eat sushi or poke (raw ahi tuna) and are ok but they do recommend no raw fish
They are going to change the rules on fish soon anyway due to new studies done in Bristol university. Plus my theory is since Japanese still eat it throughout pregnancy I'm sure we can too.
Just got back All you Can Eat sushi lunch. My taste for the raw fish ones are gone (used to love salmon avocado ones the most!) so I stick to rolls with 'crab', shrimp and veggies and LOVE it. Mmmmmm.....
I've craved california rolls with pickled ginger every 2 weeks like clockwork with this pregnancy and have indulged every time as PP mentioned, sushi rolls with "crab" are mostly made with imitation crab, which is fully cooked fish no worries! Here in Honolulu lots of pregnant ladies eat poke too
I had chicken sushi a few times just be smart and know they are making itfresh (i see them making it in the morning) and u can tell when smtn looks dodgy! I loveeee sushi
I always thought apart from the fact you can't eat raw fish, its the rice that can be dangerous because if listeria/food poisoning?? I remember my mum doing a food hygiene course about 20 years ago and telling us that rice was one of the highest causes/threats of food poisoning? I guess if its freshly made though you wouldn't have a problem? Mmmm fancying it myself now!!
anyone else have a wegmans store where they live??? best vegetarian sushi ever....especially the citrus tofu roll....mmmm. drooling now.
