Im so confused about this and have always assumed that i cannot get it due to my other half working and neither of us on income support etc but a friend of mine said that we can claim it as we must be getting the higher rate of tax credits as we get free prescriptions?

Does anyone know if this is right?

Hi yes your right. If you recieve the higher rate on tax credits, then you are more than likley going to qualify. You need to phone them up for the application pack x x

The new update on the direct gov site says if your due on or after April 11th 2011 and you have a child age 16 or under at home already you will not get it :( I miss out yet again just like with the hips.

OH and I have been looking at this and it is quite confusing  my husband was going to phone them up and query whether we are entitled to it.

I think we might apply and see what happens after all they can only say no or yes  hopefully it will be the latter :)

Just wanted to say that the changes have not yet been put into place hunny. I phoned them last week for my forms and to ask about this and he said its not true and if the changes are going to take place it wont be for another few months, so anyone who is due in april will still get there money if they are entitled to it :hugs:

I don't understand this grant at all...

How about it you get no CTCs yet because you're a first time mum? But you're a single Mum? Are you entitled to it then?
