So I have my 16 week appt. next monday.
I'm getting an ultrasound and I'm just worried that my OB will refuse to even TRY to look for the gender.
I understand that if it can't be seen then it can't be seen...
But can I atleast request her to make a good look????

Also, is it common to find the gender at 16 weeks?

I'd give it a go and ask her.

yes u can ask them to look, they did for me at 16 weeks but could only tell me i was having a boy at 70%, & was comfirmed at 20 weeks im having a boy, good luck x

I had a private scan done yesterday, and I was 16 weeks exactly. They were able to tell me confidently that it was a GIRL! Good luck..16 weeks is not too early.

I had a private scan at 15 weeks and they couldn't say for sure because she had her umbilical cord in between her legs, so I went back at 17 weeks and was confirmed it was a girl:).

Yes, you can most definitely ask your obgyn to see if your LO is a girl or a boy from 13 weeks onwards :) Have fun at your next scan!

You can definitely ask but you can`t make them do anything.

You are pretty early on and at this stage the bits sometimes look similar (ie swollen making it look like a boy or vice versa) so I wouldn`t want to be told something to only be told 4 weeks late that it is the opposite to what you were told the first time.

You really shouldn`t take much of what a sonographer or ob says before 18 weeks too seriously...
