can u hear heartbeat at 5 weeks with u/s?

I will be getting a U/S on thursday to confirm if I am prego or not. I should be about 5 weeks. Can you hear the heartbeat and will you see anything? Trying to prepare myself.

I heard Ava's heartbeat at 7 weeks (it was 192) my doc also said it was rare to hear it that early, so I would think you would not hear one at 5 weeks, but then again you never know . Congrats!!

I doubt it hun, I went for an u/s yesterday because of bleeding and didn't get one in the end, the nurse said we wouldn't see anything and it would panic me.

I am having it to prove i am becaue FRER says I am not, but I just feel it. I think I will panic if I don't see anything. How do they even know a baby gets a heartbeat if you cant hear it? Ahh... Thank you though!

you will hardly see anything at all if you are only just 5 weeks. The gestational sac becomes visible at 5 weeks and the yolk sac by 5+4. The fetal pole is often not visible until 6 weeks although you may see it when the yolk sac is visible a couple of days earlier. You are unlikely to see heart activity at 5 weeks.I would strongly recommend you to wait until you are about 6+4 if you want to see a heartbeat at your ultrasound.

I was 5 weeks and 1 day when I got my first ultrasound, they saw a sac, they saw a yolk but no fetal pole yet they said it was too early for that so dont be too upset if you don't hear there is a fetal pole yet it maybe too early! good luck

Sorry, forgot, they can see the heart beating, it is like a little flicker on the screen, but it can't be heard with the doppler yet.

At 5 weeks you will only see a gestational sac. The yolk sac appears at anywhere between 5w1d to 5w4d but it is always visible at 5w4d. If you are right on 5 weeks then you will most likely just see a gestational sac. I think 5 weeks is way too early for an ultrasound and if you just see the GS then you will probably leave in a worry thinking that there is something wrong. I recommend waiting until at least 7 or 8 weeks. Good luck.

No I'd say you won't hear anything. I am not sure what would be visible at that point - perhaps something very small and a sac. I had an internal u/s at 8 weeks (baby being 8 weeks old) and we could not hear the heart beat either. At 8 weeks we could see the baby and see the heart pumping and measured for bps but we couldn't actually hear it. My doctor said a doppler should pick it up around 12-13 weeks though. Have fun!

Once baby has formed a heartbeat, it flickers on the screen. It's tiny but flickers like a light house, only faster . Can't actually hear a heart beat till 8+ and that's rare as it's still very early.

I am getting it for free from my sister and I am going nuts not knowing and having $60 in negative tests. Its downing me!

Thank you! I am hoping they see something. I have never been this late, and of course I would be our 1st month TTC. I know it might be too early, but I dont know how much longer I can stang these negative test and constant symptoms.
