As title says?

If so, how - do you just put baby to breast and hope they feed?

Who here dream feeds and why ?

My lo goes to bed about 6pm, I was thinking of doing it at about 8.30, when I go to bed to try to make him go longer - am I on the right track of how this works ?

Oh yes you certainly can :)

I used to dreamfeed Evie when she was about 8 months as she went on a nursing strike for 3 days.

She would not feed at all in the day so i had to pump and at night once she was sleeping i would gently rouse her by talking softly or taking off her blanket and then id brush my nipple on her lips.

Worked every time

Thanks I might try it tonight to see what happens, although will only be a couple if hours from his last feed so not sure how much he'll take.

Are there any cons to doing this that I should be aware of?

Hmmm, i dont really think there are any cons.

The only one i can think of is if your LO latches and then doesnt actually want to nurse for milk he could possibly unlatch and leave you with a milk fountain

From what I've read on threads here it seems the older babies can dream feed but maybe younger ones struggle? My LO won't or can't feed asleep - I know cos I've had to wait for him to properly wake a couple times when I've been a tad over enthusiastic in reading his feeding cues! :D

I had the opposite experience, my LO started sleeping through at 10-12 weeks and I needed to dreamfeed him as his rate of weight gain lowered and then stalled a few weeks later; I had no problem dreamfeeding him them but when he got older he would wake up fully when dreamfeeding him and it proved impossible. xx

I see, he's 12 weeks - is that too young ?

I dont think he is too young, I wasnt aware that a baby could be too young for a dreamfeed? Maybe they can

Give it a try hun, he might take to it really well :hugs:

I'm tempted to give it a go too, my LO is 11 weeks.
I've been too afraid to try it as I thought it might mess up LOs night time, as he only tends to wake up once in the night then once early in the morning, and I didn't want to encourage him to wake even more! Lol! If that makes sense!
