i have been reading that some women have bright red heavy af then a week or two later take a test and find that they are pregnant? is this possible?

It wouldn't be possible to have actual AF and then two weeks later be pregnant because AF would mean your lining was shed, along with anything else in there. However, there are so many reasons for harmless bleeding early on in pregnancy, and some women even bleed with ovulation! So it's very possible to bleed and then still get a bfp.

Ditto with above. Actual AF means your uterine wall shed and that would remove anything that may have implanted. IB can sometimes be heavy enough that women think it's AF and random bleeding can happen in some pregnancies and be fine. If you keep testing and the line is getting stronger I would say you're pregnant and what you had was either IB or breakthrough bleeding.
