Erin is 10months

She has just moved onto Number 3 milk (Cow and Gate - its the one from 6months +)

She has 3 6oz bottles in a day plus, breakfast (porridge), lunch (cut up veg sticks or banana and toast) and dinner (veg/meat portion)

She will also sometimes have a fruit pot or yogurt during the day. Plus regular drinks of water.

I think its about the right amount and she never cries with hunger, but her poo is a really dark brown/green and solid.
I'm just a bit worried as they are so dark and a bit green, do you think its a sign of overfeeding? She is not ill so i know its not that.

Any ideas? or advice?

it dont sound like too much to me, it looks fine, babies will only eat untill they are full IMO,

it could be that the change of milk has upset her system, i moved Kane to follow on milk and had to change back as if gave him lots of tummy problems

are you giving her water too? maybe she just needs some more fluid to make her less constipated?

Yes! forgot to add that, she has a sippy cup full of water a day too. I think it might be the milk. she was on Hungry baby milk until 2 weeks ago and she was fine with it.

The amount of food shouldn't really affect the colour of stool. Sophie is 10+ months. She eats 3-4 meat/porridge/fruit jars, stage 1/2 (Cow and Gate) a day + C&G milk 6 oz throughtout the day + breast milk + juice/water + finger foods/ biscuits/ carrots/ cucumbers/ apples. She is on 50th percentile and all the calories from food go to her daily "workout" of crawling, cruising, standing, playing :) She also has dirty potty once or twice a day :)

I don't think its overfeeding. My LO has the same coloured stools, on 3 meals a day with two 6 oz bottles and one breastfeed (plus a little top up just before bed). She has thrown up 3 times - once when she was about 4 months and two times recently. The last couple of times she threw up the entire contents of her dinner. I think on these occasions it was because she had too much to eat and mommy moved her too suddenly after her last bottle of the day. But I do think like a previous post that they will have as much as they need and will stop when they've had enough. As to the colour of the stool I'm thinking, on our case, its down to the formula of milk she is on which is enhanced with iron. Apparently iron-fortified formula can make some babies stools this colour. She was constipated one week and I cut out the meat from her diet and just had her on porridge, fruit and veg with lots of water and her poo is now softer, albiet no change in colour unfortunately (and don't it stink?!). I've just started reintroducing fish and will move onto chicken and beef, at a much slower pace this time and see how we get on. But I think if you feel she is happy in herself, not at all uncomfortable or ill, then her colour stool is nothing to worry about. My LO is a happy bunny so I'm not worried about it.
