Hey ladies... Bit of a strange question, but have any of you noticed that your pets are behaving differently now that you are pregnant?

My cat, Dingo, is usually very independent and not very snuggly. The last week or so (I'm 5+1) she will not leave me alone! She's purring loads when she's around me and keeps doing those cute little head-butts that cats do. She's sat near me constantly and just wants to cuddle up to me all the time and she also keeps following me around the house. It's very cute!
My other cat, Sue, has always been very cuddly and affectionate but she's not the brightest crayon in the box, so she's just being the same as usual.

Has anybody else had any experience of this? I know it could just be coincidence, but Dingo has never been like this in the year and half that we've had her!

Edit - Another thing, she won't stop licking my hands! She's never displayed this behaviour before.

I definitely think my dog knows I'm pregnant. He loves to sleep against my stomach but never my husbands lol

I just remembered this photo my bf took the day before we found out I was pregnant. This is Dingo, curled up inside my jumper. Such an odd, out of character thing for her to do that we just had to take a picture!

Sounds a lot like my cat. He is very affectionate towards my hubby but not me. When i got pregnant that ddefinitely changed. He also licks my hands and arms a lot too.

Oh yeah! Two of my three dogs know for sure. My younger dog still thinks he's a baby at almost 3 years old and hasn't noticed (I don't think). Lol

Our two oldest cats certainly noticed something. The female (who is my OH's) didn't care for me before, but when I got pregnant, and she got pregnant at the same time, suddenly she loved cuddling with me. The male seems scared of my belly :haha: He avoids getting close at all cost, even if it means less cuddles.

I definitely think my 2 older dogs know, especially my boy, not sure about the young one,

My old dogs did with my daughter but sadly aren't around for this pregnancy. Our new dog doesn't know about this pregnancy, but she is only 10months so maybe its an older dog thing. Its strange because she knows my daughter is the youngest in the house and they're thick as thieves and always up to something together.

My dog definitely knows, he normally sleeps curled up behind my knees but lately he's been cuddling up to my stomach. The last time I did this was when I was pg with dd (he didn't even do it with my mmc so I'm taking it as a good sign!)

Definately, my two cats who are usually independent have been at my side constantly x

When I was pregnant with DS1, I was working for a client that brought their dogs to the office. The owners' dogs would play all the time when I wasn't pregnant, but they became like guard dogs, very protective of me, when I was pregnant.

My parents' dog and my sister's dog also are very protective of me when I'm around them and pregnant.

So I definitely think animals can pick up on your pregnancy.

My cat was exceptionally clingy for a while early on. She's normally rather snuggly so it really was excessive for me to have noticed it. :flower:

I think our cat knows too. She was a stray that showed up at our door one night, she looked so much likes my moms cat that passed, we just had to take her in. Shes always been snuggly, but now she climbs up my leg, or reaches for me while Im sitting. She either knows, or just wants a hamburger.

I have a friend whose pit bull knew when she was still very early in her pregnancy, yet she did not know. The dog became protective of her, never leaving her side and even growling at men who came near her. My husband and I trained the aggressiveness out of her, and my friend is about 5 1/2 months along with a great dog :)

My dog, however...no. He is still the lazy Beau Bear we have all come to know and love. I actually just realized yesterday that he hasn't acted differently, which I kind of expected, but kind of didn't, just because of how he is :)

My friends cat told me I was pregnant......no joke.

This cat HATED me, serious hissy fit, clawing, meowing at me when I was round, the feeling was mutual, can't stand cats.......but one day I was round sat on the sofa he jumped on the sofa and curled up on my lap!!

I'd heard about pets being more friendly when pregnant, and it was the 30th month we'd been trying...next day BFP!

I'm in the 2ww and will be seeing if my aunts dogs starts acting different around me lol

I have heard lots of stories about peoples pets knowing they are pregnant. I think that's so cute :)

Yep my dog is usually a daddys-girl but I noticed from around 4-8weeks she was really affectionate to me, and would cuddle me when I was a bit emotional.
I don't notice it as much now but I still think she knows.

I never noticed any difference with our dog!

When we were first TTC we had 3 cats. One, Lucie, was always a mummys girl and cuddly but suddenly she wouldn't leave me alone. Got my BFP and then at about 7 weeks she wouldn't come near me. I thought it was odd but thats it. Then we found out at 10 weeks the baby had died at 7 weeks and i had had a MMC. I properly miscarried at 12 weeks, at which point Lucie started coming back for cuddles. When I caught with DD 6 weeks later again Lucie wouldn't leave me alone. Unfortunately she died 6 months later

This time round, again dog hasn't changed but Tabitha who usually sleeps at the bottom of the bed has stopped doing so and is sleeping on my daughters chair downstairs.

So the opposite to what everyone is having!

My Father-in-laws dog has become especially clingy with me, when ever i sit or lay down on their sofa she insists on laying her head on my belly. She'll creep from my lap up higher until she's happy haha and will lick at my top when ever she gets kicked
