Can't see a midwife...

Hi ladies,

Title says it all really...we have just moved from Cornwall to Barnsley and have tried to register at the local doctors, they have given us an appointment next thursday to see a doctor and get registered which is great...but we go away on the 1st October for a 3 week holiday and I won't have seen a midwife!!

I'm worried that I wont have seen a midwife since my booking appointment or that we won't have a scan date for the anomaly scan. I don't know what to do

This is our first baby so I might be stressing over nothing and everything might be fine...any advice would be great.

Contact the midwives directly rather than going through the doctors. It'll speed things up.

Can you ask the surgery you're registering with to leave a message for the midwives to ring you? They are normal ameniable to this type of request.
You wouldn't be due to see a midwife for a check until 16 weeks (when you'll be away so you might have to make it when you're 17 weeks), but for peace of mind a chat with them before hand may reassure you, and they could arrange the anomaly scan for you in the meantime.

You'll be seeing a GP anyways so he/she will give you your check up and assess you as a midwife would. In ireland you have combined care between the Gp and midwife so chillax and enjoy your hols

We dont get ours in my area till 18 weeks anyway so its not urgent that you see them at 16 weeks on the dot xxx Just ring Im sure they can book you in xx

Thanks for your replies everyone...I rang them and everything is all sorted so mini panic over! it was just when I went for my dating scan the nurse at the hospital said I had to make my own midwife appointment at 15 weeks but yay it's sorted
