im swithering whether or not to buy the base for the car seat to take advantage of the 'one click' in & out or is it just as easy to put the seat belt round the seat? im only asking bcos im pretty strapped for cash & its another £40 for the base :-/ if it makes a good difference then obv ill buy- just wanted an opinion :flower: thank yew xxxx

Our original purchase of the stroller/infant car seat came with 1 base... and we did invest in another one for my hubbies car as well. I just feel like it's more "secure".... my friend only had one base though so she would just strap baby in with the belt otherwise... and I know it's OK to do that... but personally, it just seemed like it was too wiggly for my taste. I think it makes a big difference... but that's just my two cents :)

Hi hopefully85,

I wasn't going to bother buying a base for my car seat. But, I have been given one today, from my sis-in-law! So, I will be using the base now that I have one, but, wouldn't have bothered if I hadn't!
x

weve bought one simply because its sooo much easier!! x

I got the isofix base because it's so much easier xx

it is sooooo sooo much easier and faster...we bought a carseat and base for hubbies car and then a travel system and that carseat and base will go in my car...its such a hassle otherwise..remembering who has the base..who has the carseat..and taking it in and out and buckling it everytime...blah....anything to make things easier and quicker lol..

I bought one without a base cos I wanted to be able to move it between cars When it's strapped in it feels very secure and snug but it's a pain having to fit it every time, especially if it's raining. Next time I think I'll go for one with a base for handiness

we've bought one we didn't have one with my son and was just a pain strapping it in all the time and think base makes it so much easier x

A base came with our carseat, and we bought an extra for use in my parents' car at first, and later on my hubby's car. Was totally worth it - but wasn't as expensive as the base you are looking at - more like $20 us.

Definitely not a necessity, but definitely more convenient. Its a pain to strap in and out the car seat all the time- especially if you are using it as part of a travel system. Also I felt happier that it was in correctly using the base- as you hear so many stories about car seats not being put in right.

i had this debate with myself too and decided to not buy one and to see how I got on. Well I have taken the car seat out of the car about 5 times in total in 3 months, so wont be getting a base. Unhooking the car seat a few times is really no bother. And carrying the car seat+baby for me is heavy so I find using the pushchair much better, and baby looks more comfy lying down in his pushchair, rather than sat in the car seat x

wow thanks for all the replies!! think the majority there was def get one therefore i think ill go ahead & order it  i do agree that it wud be a lot lot quicker & easier but like the last post there im questioning if id actually take the car seat in & out of the car that often? as it is quite heavy & thats without baby in it  i find it so hard to make any decisions right now!! xx:haha:

I didn't even know you could use the seats without the base... a good option then for people who don't drive too often or don't drive too often with a child in the car.

Hi... I got the maxi cosi cabrio and wont be getting the base as I don't have isofix so I can't use the cars clips and with the base that you strap in you still need to check that all the time as with use it will loosen just like a car seat with a seat belt. At least if your putting it in all the time you know it is properly secure xxx

I am not 100% positive about this but I *think* it is the law in the usa... but like I said, I am not sure so I could be wrong

My isofix base come with the carseat. Doubt we'll actually use it though.

I got the base for handiest, i didnt bother with one when the boys were babies and it was a pita trying to belt in car seat in the rain and wind etc. I dont plan on using teh car seat on the pram chassis too often as i hate hate hate to see little babies in car seats going around shops but thats a whole other rant  But if i need to park around the corner from the boys school and need to walk them around i will pop the seat on the chassis so the base will be handy and save me having to do and undo seat belt a few times a day, also iirc the base makes the seat more secure.

We have the base that stays in the car, and the carseat goes in/out with one click.

Up until our LO was around 5 months old, the carseat was in/out using the one-click base around 4 times a day - so 4 times a day for about 5 months - about 600 times!!

Well used!!

We drive a lot. After LO arrived, maybe 3 wks later I would jump in the car to go around the shops/babyclubs etc - I am certainly an out&about person and where we live we use the car.

LO sleeps so much in the car -even a 5 min journey and LO would be sleeping. The one click-base means you dont have to wake them.

It is heavy carrying the baby in carseat (I still carried LO in/out of house in carseat til about 9 months if she fell asleep!!!) It is heavy, but practical.

I would definitely recommend it!:flower:
