Im thinking instead of getting a moses basket, and spending more money, I could use the carry cot that comes with this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S6-pram-..._BabyTravel_Pushchairs_GL&hash=item20b9499640

for putting baby in at night. Till she is big enough for the standard sized cot. It is pretty much the same as a moses basket is it not?

Just to say, the carry cot would be in the standard sized cot perminently. I would use the car chair part outside the house in the pram.

The mattresses that come with most carry cots are generally not designed for overnight sleeping, so you would probably have to buy a proper mattress to make it safe to use for that purpose, as the mattress needs to allow air to circulate to prevent baby over-heating during the night, which is one of the big causes of cot death as far as I'm aware.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the car seat is fine for short periods, but that they aren't to be used for longer periods as the baby can't lie out flat - any pram or pushchair you use with a newborn is meant to have a lie flat facility if it's to be used with a newborn.

Some people never use a Moses basket at all, they just go straight into a full sized cot?

Hope that helps :flower:

hubby and I are looking into doing this. we LOVE the silver cross sleepover prams. this is our favourite

it comes with the rocking stand as well :flower:

Id never heard (with my other two kids, now 9 and 6) that newborns need to have a lay flat option, is it a new thing?

That looks like a soft carrycot which is not advised to use for overnight sleeping. You would breed a firm carrycot x

Not sure how long they've been recommending it, but we were told it in a number of shops when we were shopping for ours over year ago, plus lots of sites online recommend it, eg:

xx

Ok thanks hun.

I will probably just put her straight into the big cot. I just worry it might be too big for her lol

As long as it lays flat and has a moses basket mattress then I would. Both mine slept in prams x

Our baby will just go straight in the cot. They can't move anyway, so I'm not sure how a cot would be too big?

Most firm carrycots have the same mattress as a Moses' basket. This particular one doesn't look like a firm carrycot. We have a hauck carrycot and it said on their site it is suitable for overnight sleeping, it has the same type of mattress as most Moses' baskets and has a breathable cotton lining to the basket itself xx

I think I saw someone on here mention cot dividers? to make it not seem like such a huge space to a newborn :flower:
