castor oil

anyone planning on drinking this nasty stuff to induce labor? my doctor said that i can go ahead and drink the castor oil instead of being induced by him. hopefully it works

Don't take it, I DO NOT want to scare anyone but my friends little girl may still be here today if she hadn't of taking that stuff...............it makes baby poo inside you. I have no idea why your doctor would suggest you to take it! Are you in the UK?

Castor oil does NOT cause babies to defecate inside of you, that is just a myth that won't die. Yes, it will make you poop like crazy, but that's it. I personally wouldn't use it anyway, but not for that reason.

My friend was 40 weeks and took castor oil on her due date - the baby up until then had been absaloutley fine. She took the castor oil and her baby became really distressed and poohed inside her, and breathed in the poo and died of distress before they could get her out by emergency C section......my midwife told me it does make them poo inside you?

Im sorry but your dr is an idiot! How unprofesional to say something like that to you. I suggest you tell your dr to maybe go back and read up on it. If caster oil worked at all and was safe to take there would be no need for inductions.

I'm sorry, I just get really frustrated with people not understanding the difference between correlation and causation, especially when it comes to their health.

Taking caster oil gives you the runs,which inturn is supose to start contractions. But can cause babies to poo inside your tummy and then baby breaths it in. Its one of the many dangerous things caster oil can cause...and sadly too many babies die everyday of something the mothers couldnt control,so why anyone would want to put their baby in danger for labour to start sooner is beyond me.

My doc. told me I could take it too. But I told her NO THANK YOU! It is crazy of how dangerous it is and they are recommending it.. I will NOT be taking it..
