So this is my second month ttc, cd2. I was thinking about buying a clearblue fertility monitor but they are REALLY expensive so dont want to buy one unless I know it is gonna help me out!

Just wondering if anyone has one or using one and what you guys think about it.

THANKS LADIES!

I have one! Are you cycles long, if so I would not recommended it. I went through 40 sticks in two months!

I think I'd give it a bit longer to be honest, 2 months is such a short time. I have one which I'm going to sell soon and I loved it. They are only useful however if you don't really have any idea when you ovulate. It still took me over 12 months to get a BFP with the monitor. They keep track of your previous cycles and try to predict when you will ovulate or AF will arrive based on the other cycles and the sticks you feed it.

If you are organised and keep a diary plus use standard OPKs, I wouldn't say there is any need for the expense. Just my opinion from having had one for a while now.

I dont actually know..

This is cd2--second cycle off of coming off of birth control. I took my ring (nuvaring) out on June 12 and had a 48 day cycle.. So that one was long.

I dont know if I am regular or irregular or what because I havent had a normal cycle without bc for over five years. besides last cycle.

I used OPKs last cycle and went through about 80 of them because I was testing everyday twice a day (didnt want to miss the surge) only to find out that when I did ovulate, the OPKs didnt even pick up the surge.

Could you explain to me exactly how the cbfm works?

Thank you for your answer. I do use standard OPKs.. or I did last cycle but I dont know if they picked up my surge correctly. I had a couple of surges because it was first month off of bc and body kept trying to ovulate. When I did, I never got a +OPK. I started charting this cycle, as well as trying to look at my cm and cp to get a feel of how that works. Also started taking a crap load of vitamins!!

This is my second month using the cbfm. I love it because without It i could never pinpoint ovulation. Ppl usually have success within 2 months if there is nothing wrong.
You shouldn't consider buying one until your cycles are shorter because it says it doesn't work if your cycles are more than 40 days.
What makes the cbfm different is that not only does of detect LH, but it also detects estrogen which increases a few days before you get a LH surge.
The monitor tells you to poas starting cd 6 on your first try then once it learns your cycle it will ask for you to test closer to when you O.
I have a 27 day cycle. Last month I got highs from cd10 to cd14 then I got a peak on cd15. I didn't get pregnant, but I think I'll get a BFP this month.

You should get a bbt and a fertility friend account for now until your cycles return to normal and then get a cbfm. With taking your bbt you can determine when you have ovulated.

Thanks SLH, your answer really helps..

You are probably right... I just want this to happen, you know?

I forgot that a peak is when it detects a LH surge.

If you ever have any questions I will be more than to answer them if I can. There are also lots of good threads on this forum about it.

why could you never pinpoint ovulation if your cycles are regular? Did you use OPKs?

I can totally understand how you feel. I was on depo provera for 7 years. I got off of it in Jan 2010 and didn't get a regular period until february 2011 and now I have a LPD which is making it impossible to get pregnant. I'm taking a vitamin that is supposed to help so we will see. This whole process is so frustrating. I hope we both get our :BFP: real soon.

I agree with waiting until your cycles are a bit more regular or at least shorter. The cbfm will ask you to start feeding it a stick at around day 8 or 10 I think, the first time you use it. I've heard it will only ask for 20 sticks so it's likely you may till miss your peak if your last cycle was so long. if you have the patience to chart and temp, that will be better until your cycles are sorted.

I would always get faint positives on opk's but never dark lines. I also think that coming off of depo screwed up my ovulation. My longest cycle was 30 days and my shortest has been 25 since February (before that my periods were absent), that's an average of 27 days lol.
The monitor gave me a peak my first time using it but opk's always came back negative it was weird.
I always thought I wasn't ovulating until I started to temp use my cbfm.

I also used the clearblue smiley faces the month before I got my cbfm and it always came back with a blank circle so I have no idea what was going on.

those smiley face ones are so fickle. I did a smileyface one morning and got the blank circle, did the cbfm and got a peak????? did a smileyface in the late afternoon and sure enough got a smiley face.

If they weren't so expensive and if I didn't get $60 cbfm sticks, then I would buy some this month. How often did you bd when you got your BFP? I think I'll get a peak tomorrow and don't want to bd too much or too little.
Congratulations!

Are you taking vitamin B? with my last cycle (first cycle off of birth control--that is why it was almost 50 days) I ovulated July 24 on like cd39 and then had an 8 day lp. So mine was very short too. I have started an intense vitamin regimen including b complex and b6 to lengthen my lp. Hopefully it works.

I was also on depo from age 15-18. It jacked my body up. I only weighed like 112 when I was on it, and then went to the gyno for the first time, who told me I definitely did not weight enough to be on it and that is why I bled for three straight years while I was on it. There was WAY too much hormone for my body and I bled more than I was off my period. It was a really bad time.

I dont want this to be me. No offense of course, I just dont have the patience for my body to do this type of behavior. How long did you put up with that before you got the fm?

thanks hun. I actually wasn't using the cbfm when I got my BFP, I was on holiday and just took a few sticks with me to compare the lines with my eye.

We bd every other day from around cd8 to cd18 just to sure, I bit tiring but only for just over a week then was able to sleep ever since lol

I would wait a bit and keep charting while letting your cycles even out (chances are you wont need it) and if you wanna go ahead and get one get it from ebay, you can sell it for as much as you paid and get the sticks from walmart.com they're much cheaper

Hey Helena!! Thanks, you guys are all right I supposed. lol.

Just me being angsty!
