Hi Ladies! I am 5 weeks pregnant and have celiac and am gluten free. Any other ladies have special diet requirements and pregnant??

I have celiac disease too! Just be sure you are taking a prenatal vitamin and staying on your gluten free diet. Congrats and best of luck to you!

I'm Coeliac also!! And Veggie! So eat well, very very well. I am lucky to have a good chef as a boyf so i'm quite spoilt and he bought me a big Coeliac cake specially made for my bday. I get sick to DEATH of the crappy bread though, its a lot better than when i was a kid but it still crumbles and is yuck! I've tried all brands...

Anyway mini rant over, nice to see some fellow sufferers here LOL :winkwink:

I don't have coeliacs (my sister and aunt do though?!) but i do have a wheat and yeast intolerance and i also have crohns disease so i don't know what to eat most of the time. I can't even eat bread for coeliac as it has yeast in it and i could seriously kill for some toast!!

Wow its great to see others in the same situation as me. Yes, I am on a good prenatel vitamin. I also try to eat as much gf pasta with whole grains and gf bread as much as possible since I know these are things that are needed. THere is very little on the internet(imagine that) about a gluten free pregnancy.

I don't know if any of you are in the uk but my sis swears by Genius bread, it has a lovely texture, no crumble and they make it in brown and white bread. I had some and it was the best i've tasted but then the yeast attacked me lol

i get really bad ibs if i eat white bread and can't stomach dairy at the mo.

not as bad as having coeliac i know but i still have to be careful what i eat so any tips would be helpful

missamoo i can't eat wheat for different reasons but my dr did say to me that most people with ibs don't get on with wheat or lactose. Unfortunatly the only solution is to avoid it. I have ibd and have noticed huge changes since cutting out wheat and yeast and i only have minimal dairy. Also you could try the genius bread i mentioned in my previous post, it's in tesco, asda etc.

my mum thinks Genius is the best she's tasted yet, so defanatly worth looking for!

I am in the U.S. so any ladies who need gluten free suggestions here let me know... I have plenty!! How have your doctors/midwives reacted to you being gluten free during your pregnancy or have you told them??

Hi ladies. I dont have Coeliacs but i am on a wheat and gluten free diet as i have IBS and a wheat intolerance. I was on this diet when pregnant with dd and she is fine. She eats normally, nothing really affects her which is great as i was worried if i didnt eat it she wouldnt be able to tolerate it one born. Like one of the other ladies said, genius bread is great. Expensive mind but the best i have tasted. Sainsburys have just extended their freefrom range as well and have some really nice things and a lot more choice which is great. As long as your eating a healthy diet, everything should be fine. xxx

I'm in the US too. I told my doctors and no one really said anything specific to do/not to do now that i'm pregnant. What about you?
