Cervical Length Scan

Hello

I am having a cervical length scan done on Wednesday, I will be 12 weeks pregnant.

Does the Sonographer need to go really high into your vagina? Also does it hurt? I ave just read a few threads where people have said there internal scan have hurt!

I have one done every other week. No, it doesn't hurt, and no, the technician does not go really high into your vagina.

I have one every scan with the twins. They do need to use the vaginal probe to get a good number. It doesn't hurt.

i had a vaginal ultrasound today, at 18+4, the baby was hiding her face during the anatomy scan and they wanted to try and see it thru the vagina. When she pulled out the wand both my fiance and i got a little nervous...it was so long! But the nurse saw our faces, giggled and told us only a little actually goes in (insert dirty jokes, and thats what she saids here), it didnt hurt at all. While she was doing it she took the time to look at my cervix and saaid everything looked just fine.

I had one also at 12/13 week scan, which they now do routinely at the hospital in South London where they do nuchal scans. It's as part of a programme to flag up ladies who might possibly need to have extra attention in case of premature labour..I agreed to it, although am v.low risk for this as I don't have a history of it and have gone overdue in the past. I will tell you it was definitely 100% not painful...less uncomfortable than prodding with abdominal scan! the probe is very thin and smooth and they really cover it with lube stuff, then just very lightly touch the cervix. I barely felt it.

I had mine done a couple of days ago due to previous LLETZ for abnormal cells. Mine measured 36mm. What was yours?
