Cervix question & labour

I'm 39+4 today, but yesterday I had an internal and the midwife said my cervix is long and closed. I know everyone is different and baby will come when she is ready, but is anyone else in the same position with their cervix? I've had some pains, tightenings and horrid backache over the past 7-10 days or so, and was half expecting to have started slowly dilating so I am a bit disheartened about this. Do I still have a chance of natural birth? I'm worried I'll end up needing to be induced! Experience and opinions appreciated
