has anyone been told their cervix is short and funneling?? i have googled this and all i can find is people in the 20 weeks with this problem...

I would try not to worry too much at your stage, it's far riskier earlier in pregnancy, I had it very early on and they wanted to put a stitch in but my placenta was over my cervix so they just said they would keep an eye on it until 24 weeks as they don't tend to try after that time. luckily mine had lengthened by 18 weeks so they wont want to measure it again now. What has your specialist said? have they said they will keep an eye? it's about all they can do I believe and hopefully it will hold out to term for you.

Also, in my case, the funneling was caused by a contraction happening at the time of the scan! I hope this isn't any thing to serious for you. x

thanks very much for answering my thread... :)

they didnt seem to concerned, they gave me steriod injections to mature baby's lungs and it seems to be a matter of time now, they said everyone is different and i could go any time, the suspense is killing me though, especially as i didnt really no what they were telling me!! i have read that alot of people are given a stitch but there was no mention of this to me, probaly because i am that bit further on, but all i could find in google was about the stitch! so, your cervix lengthened again then??? this is possible so! :)

Oh wow! must be a little nerve wracking for you now that they have said 'any time'!
Yeah, mine did get longer somehow and have heard other ladies on here saying the same but obviously there are those that don't, and I wouldn't have personally thought at 34 weeks yours would be likely to get longer as your body prepares itself for labour.
I THINK putting the stitch in would be dangerous this late on as it can have complications doing the procedure, also, they usually take a stitch out at around 37 weeks to which you are pretty close! yay!
The apprehension must be a little scary for you but on the bright side, it has happened late on and I doubt very much you will have to be induced which I've heard can be quite a painful experience. x
