As a first time mum i need some advice.

Our DD is 8 months old and we use a fold up change table we bought brand new....it only holds a child up to 12 months (no forward planning by me here lol)

So.....do i need to get a proper wooden change table or can we make do without one after 12 months....like change her standing up on the floor or on our bed or something etc? Or am i better to save my back?

Dont want to waste money if i dont need to.... thanks x

Iv never used any changing mat, allways done it on my knee. OH just uses does it on the floor.

ETA, even if you get a propper wooden one you will still have to bend down to lift LO on and off so your still having to put effort into it. LO cant roll off and get hurt if there on the floor.

In the early stages i just used a mat or blanket on the floor, now just use the floor, the bed, the sofa! Wherever!

I've always changed LO on my knee or on the floor, personally, i think changing tables are a total waste of space and money <3

Oh wow i use my one all the time, but just didnt know if was really necessary after 12 mths.... hmm know what u mean about the space :)

What about getting a cot top changer that just lies on top of the cot? Doesnt take any room up and means you still can use a changing top if you need to? I'd be tempted to buy one of these instead if I was in your position. x

I dont think i could be botherd taking her upstairs and then back down again every time i needed to change a nappy

Always thought they were a waste of money, when he was tiny I changed him on my knee or on an old towel on the bed/couch whatever, now the floor.

I have never used a change table, always a changing mat on the floor, bed , sofa, wherever I need to change her. xx

I love our change table. At home I'd never change her anywhere else. However I'd not buy another one for 12m + I think as they get older and wriggle more it'll be much easier on the floor.

We bought a change table/dresser for DS1 and used it for DS2 as well. It just looks like a chest of drawers and you attach a change pad to the top and then they continue to use it as drawers after diaper time is done.

We are purchasing a second chest of drawers (slightly higher as we found the changer/chest height hurt OH's back) for our new LO. That way they have furniture to last after babyhood. I wouldn't buy a single purpose change table though.
