changing bottle nipple size

From the way my baby's teacher and my dh explain how my dd drinks out of a bottle, it seems like its time to switch to size/level 2. However, her teacher said to be careful because when switching sometimes babies will then refuse the boob because they have to work so much harder to eat then they would with a size 2 bottle nipple.

has anyone experienced this or have recommendations?

how do you truly know when to go up nipple size/level?

With my first he started refusing the bottle ( his was breastfed but used to get a few bottles of expressed a week) and after a few times I suddenly remembered we had different size teats and as soon as I changed it he was happy again. This time around DS2 was just taking so long to drink his milk that we tried the bigger teat and again he was happy and drank well. Neither had any issue with breastfeeding after changing teats .
