changing formula

heyy!
so i thought alice got better with feeding since the gp gave her gaviscon. but now shes drinking about 15oz a day again. for the last month she got reflux and would scream through bottles and would never take it again after i burped her.
she had gaviscon and i changed bottles from tt to avent and for a few days she was great, drinkin at least 5 4oz bottles and didnt need to stop atall. now with the gaviscon and the avent bottles shes screamin through bottles again. she will be hungry and il sit down to feed her and she will start screamin before she even has any.
shes gone back down to drink 3oz every 4 hours when she was drinking more than this at 4 weeks old.
i have changed bottles, upped teat size, used gaviscon, carton milk nothing seems to work.

is it worth changing formula all together or using the cow and gate comfort? will it make any difference atall. she cant go on being this unsettled and drinking 3oz. please let me no if you have any advice xxx

I've just posted a similar Q! We have similar probs (trapped wind tho not reflux) and we're thinking of maybe changing to Hipp Organic rather than the Aptamil comfort, but unsure whether changing milks is a bad idea. Trouble is the comfort milk is to help with consipation too and Ethan doesn't have this - don't want him getting dioarhiah (lol can't spellit) I'm going to ask at baby clinic tomorrow so will let you know x

hey thanks hun. alice is a bit constipated but i think thats due to the stupid gaviscon that isnt working anyway! when she does go its really hard. im worried shes not putting weight on i was going to get her weighed last week but i got really ill so couldnt so will now have to wait another few days. nothing seems to be working and the only las thing i can think of is changing the powder but i dont want to make things worse. let me no what they say x

Hi we were having the same problem. Id advise u to contact ur gp, my lo was given prescription milk. tho it hasnt solved the problem, i hope it will soon....

hey iv been to see the doc and they confirmed it was reflux (which i already knew) and they gave her gaviscon which worked for about 2 or 3 days. stupid hv didnt even care said shes prob having an off few days ermm hello!??? its been going on for a month!!! i think im going to try dr brown bottles as lots of people recommend them and then it will be off to the docs again to try something else if they dont work. i just dread every feed because i no how it will turn out. i try to say calm so she doesnt pick up on it though. i always top her up at half 10 when shes asleep because she doesnt have enough in the day and she drank 4oz of it tonight i hope this ges sorted its not nice for either of us x

HV said not to change milk unless he's having severe probs as every milk change irritates the gut (even to hungry baby at first).
Dr didn't even contemplate the milk change, said to give him cooled boiled water between feeds sometimes as it helps the gut develop. Dr thinks it's colic although I think it's not a digestive problem, just trapped wind, as he doesn't bring his legs up, he tries to straighten out. If it's no better in a week, go back.
I'm going to get some Dr brown bottles today too, the TT ones dont' seem to be that good tbh.

hey hun my doc said to change to cow and gate comfort and not to give the gaviscon. alice has been so unsettled today
i cant find any dr brown bottles so im going to have to order some which will take ages! i got to take her to the doc on wednesday because all of this was over the phone so they want to check her. she drank 1oz on her first bottle this mornin and only another 2 since. doc said if she isnt having enough wet nappys then to take her back sooner. im hoping to get her weighed 2moz aswell. hope you sort things out xxx

go back to the doctors and demand to be sent to a pediatrician(sp) most doctors seem to be less than helpful when it comes to reflux and will only tend to stick to the baby gaviscon rather than stuff that actually helps
