Last night we put down Riv and about 30 minutes later he starts crying so I go to check on him and he's on his belly with his head in the air poor guy so I sooth him back to sleep and later that night I turn on the night light to find him sleeping on his belly!!!! His head was to the side but of course I could barely sleep the rest of the night, he then woke up again crying on his belly with his head in the air so I finally just picked him up and put him in bed with me because I always sleeps on his back then (but he kicks me and slaps my face all night!), but I would like him to stay in the crib!

The thing that worries me is he can only flip back to belly not the other way around so I'm terrified of SIDS especially since it peaks from 2 months to 4 months and he is 3.5 months. Just wondering if any of you had similar stories and what you did to deal with the anxiety.

It's difficult when they can't roll back off their front. I would be inclined to keep turning him back when I notice him on his tuumy, but I know that's not ideal.

I have given up on trying to stop my LO from sleeping on his front, but he can roll off his belly when ever he pleases xxx

Movement monitor all the way. Myles has done this for the last 2 or 3 weeks and the movement monitor is the only reason I don't bother really. He's the same - can get to his belly but struggles to get back over again. If it is worrying you, it's something I'd invest in. Only other solution if you don't want to is just checking all the time and turning him over I'm afraid. x

Jaxon did this.

The minute I saw he was sleeping on his tummy I removed his bumperbads, and blanket. I just recently gave him a blanket again (he's 10 mths now). But once they start sleeping on stomach, you cant stop it.

If he rolls himself, it's fine. Its a problem when you PLACE them on their stomachs.

ya i took away his blanket last night, and thinking about breathable bumpers because he keeps putting his foot through the slats. how do dress him without the blanket? i know they say babies like being cool but we have the air on at night and sometimes his little hands are so cold

My lo has been doing this for a few weeks but I flip him back over when I check on him. He just flips back over though, haha.

I bought some blanket sleepers (You can get them at Target in the baby department now, 2 for like $10 or soemthing like that), or at kohls are carters store.

it is scary cause he only rolls one way now i slept with Arianna till about a week ago started her in the crib she rolled right on her stomach but she rolls both ways and she is very strong neck wise ever since born! monitor or just keep checking on him i didnt have that problem cause i co slept at that age but i know it can be worrisome!

I have a similar, maybe worse story. my LO learnt to roll onto tummy durring the night time this week like yours, BUT silly baby-he doesnt put his head to the side!!,he buries his face into the mattress!

he too wakes up crying because he cant yet flip back.

as you can imagine, ive not slept too well!(and strapping him down with a blanket didnt work either.

we bought an angelcare movement sensor this week, im quite impressed that it can pick up LOs shallow breathing.

having said all this, i think if he had the sense to put his head to the side while on his tummy id have probably not worried so much
