Still not rolling, crawling or cruising here. I know it's fine and still considered normal, just seems so slow and I am running out of reasons when people are asking me why she does nothing!

Thomas had been rolling for months by this age, was a confident crawler, could pull to stand and cruise a bit.

Sophie is such a happy, placid and gentle baby (though enjoys a good scream, she can be loud). She tollerated a 3 hour car ride one way and 3 hours back recently and didn't even whine once even though my toddler wouldn't let her sleep on the way there.

She just seems to be happy whatever is going on, and is a pretty confident girl.

I hope she's not physically delayed. She's been sitting unaided for a little over a month and has good hand skills.

Happy lazy baby I guess?

If she is sitting up thats not nothing. My LO is 1 in about 2 weeks and only crawled the other day for about 2 seconds. No cruising either and she couldnt sit up herself without toppling till she was about 9/10 months. She is a happy contended little thing too so maybe the 2 are connected lol. x

Thanks! And congrats to your girl for crawling the other day!

It's like Sophie is so happy just to sit on a lap and be cuddled, why bother trying to move? Lazy like me! She can roll onto her side to reach for a toy but gives up quickly.

It is nice to have 2 such different kids. She also has no hair or teeth, and Thomas had heaps of both at 7 months.

Seems normal to me. My youngest crawled at 7 months, oldest didnt till 11 months, Both chilled out and happy babies. Fast forward never bloody sit down now lol running about all day, happy, loud boys.

Definitely!

Anabella is placid and laid back (most of the time, she also has a very loud scream on her) and she only started rolling a couple of weeks ago! I think she is trying to figure out crawling but we are still a few weeks/month or so away from that. She has never once pulled herself to a standing position, nor has she cruised. She did sit unaided early though, just before 5 months.

I think a lot of it is personality driven!

She sounds kinda similar to my guy. He sat early (4.5 months) but then just stayed there. He liked standing against the furniture but did not roll or crawl or even try. Then all of a sudden one day around eight months he rolled one way, then the other, and two days later was fully crawling, and sitting up from lying down.

That's impressive larkspur! Thanks for the reassurance guys.

It's really weird looking back at pictures and videos of Thomas at this age, I could never imagine Sophie actually cruising let alone crawling. I just watched one where he cruised around the kitchen chasing the cat. Sophie is like a 3 month old baby compared to that. She's a real sweetie though.

Funnily Thomas couldn't sit unaided until almost 8 months, so Sophie beat him well at that.

My LO is laidback and happy- content to just sit in my lap, and he could only sit and roll at 6 months.

But at 8.5 months he started crawling, cruising, waving, and clapping within days of each other. It was like this huge leap in development.

My baby is pretty "intense" haha, he's needs my attention RIGHT now and cried a fair bit when he was younger. He's also pretty advanced in his physical milestones (rolled f2b at 8 days old, both ways by 3.5 months, sits unaided) he just doesn't stop squirming. He's already trying to get up on his knees. So your theory may be right! TBH I wish my baby was more lazy!

I don't know if all content babies are "lazy," but I can say from experience that many unsettled babies are grumpy because they want to be mobile and they therefore might be more motivated to get moving than a baby who is happy just sitting around.

My LO has always been on the fussy end of the spectrum and as she got older it was obvious that a large part of that was frustration at not having control over her body or her environment. She really worked at getting through those motor milestones as quickly as she could and when she started crawling and cruising at 7 months she was much happier (but still pretty grumpy a lot of the time lol).

Sounds like my DS I just say he's laid back, he's so relaxed about everything, well apart from food!!

Thomas was like that bananaz, he started crawling at 5 months! He was so frustrated all the time. One day he was on his front screaming at some toy, thrashing around, and whamo he went forward 5 inches to grab it.

He still never ever stops moving and demanding :-/, especially screeching to go outside all day long.

Sure, I think there's a case for saying some babies are happier to sit and look and some to get on and move. It's just personality. If she is happy sitting then plonk her down with a couple of toys - some outside her reach, motivation! - and enjoy the fact that you don't have to chase her around. :)

That would be nice, sadly her brother thinks she's one of his toys and would pick her up and throw her around if I did hehe!

Awh hun, she is adorable! All babies are different and you can't compare her to your DS. When she is ready she will start crawling, standing, and cruising. Sometimes it literally happens over night and will shock you. There is no need to worry - plenty of babies don't do any of the above until they are a year old and my daughter was one of them. I don't consider it physically delayed at all because it's really at their own pace.

I know many people feel anxious and can't wait until their LO is more mobile but you should enjoy it while you can honestly. :)

Haha, Elsie is the same! She is constantly bringing me her shoes and trying to use my car keys to unlock the front door because she wants to go out. The demands never end, do they? :haha:
