Clomid for Unexplained Infertility

Hi hun-we are unexplained and just had our first failed IVF. I was prescribed clomid in January and took it for 3 months. It didnt do anything for me and in fact I stopped as it made me feel really awful, but I understand it can help with egg quality if that may be the issue.

How old are you? Have they suggested anything else yet? x

I was on Clomid and I originally had unexplained infertility. It didn't work for us but now we've found out that I have a Diminished Ovarian Reserve. I really hope it works for you hun! Lots of ladies on here went on to get their 's after Clomid!

Hey I am just about to start chlomid. The reason being my af is all over the place. Anywhere from six weeks to four months. The reason I have been given chlomid is to make sure that I ovulate and to also help pinpoint it as currently it is pretty much impossible.

Do you have af regularly? If you ovulate on your own maybe chlomid isn't right for you? Have you looked into other options that may suit you better?

We were/are unexplained.

I always had regular cycles, ovulated regularly, so clomid wasn't necessary for inducing ovulation.

My doc prescribed clomid and we did IUI. I had success after 4 rounds.
The problem that I had, was clomid thinned my lining. To the point where an embryo wouldn't be able to implant. I was able to take estrace to counteract that.

This go around, doc put me on femara, hoping it wouldn't thin my lining. It didn't, but the side effects are a pain.

I guess im unexplained also, i have been married for 5 1/2 years, never taken birth control and only got pregnant once. so in february i asked my doctor about taking Clomid to help speed things along, we had been actively trying for #2 for over a year and i was ovulating it just wasn't happening so she agreed and i took Clomid for 3 months, 1&2 month 50mg 2nd month 100mg and got pregnant! sadly it ended in M.c at 10 weeks from a chromosomal problem. So now i have tried for 4 cycles on my own an nothing even though i am ovulating so i start back on clomid this week to help out again!

I have just started my second round of clomid we are un explained and I am 32.

FS told me it can make you produce more egss so they increases the odds and also the eggs will be very good quality. I have spent a long time looking for success stories and there are lots! for some people it helps others it doesn't but certainly worth a shot before you embark on more expensive and inavisive treatments.

Update: Well I had my hospital appointment today and I persuaded the doctor to give me Clomid. I got 3 months supply of 50mg dosage. I have to go back for CD21 blood tests on my next two cycles. They also said I can expect to be seen for a consultation for IUI within a few weeks. Come on BFP! Send me lots of babydust (really hope I catch before IUI).

im on my 5th cycle of clomid praying 4 bfp so i dont have to have ivf.so scared.

Thanks Sophe and A1! I really hope this does the trick for us. What dosage are you on? I'm on 50mg and take it from CD2 to CD6. I heard it can help with Luteal Phase spotting so at the least I hope it works for that!

How many days after taking the last pill will I ovulate? Mine varies every month usually but I read that with Clomid it'll be a set day. I'm just not sure when to begin my OPK testing. Also my iphone app says it'll be on CD11!! Seems too early to me, I hope not because DH is working away and won't be back until the day before ovulation if that's true, argh!

Sophe are you taking yours before bed to avoid the side effects? I take my first pill tonight, yay! Hoping sooo much that this works. This will also be our 1st try since I had my Lap & Dye so hoping that ups our chances too.

I have only done 1 cycle so far and I ovulated on CD14 and had a text book 28 day cycle, this gives me hope because i usually Ovulate between CD 17 - 19 and have a short luteal phase, so if thats the issue clomid may well help me. I would use OPK to check when you o've it should between CD 11 - 16 according to the info I was give with my clomid..

I take mine before bed and I do feel a little bit sick after taking one but its only for 5 days a month and when I wake up I feel fine.

I had a HSG the same cycle as my first round of clomid so was hoping the two together were going to give me that boost too... nothing last month but i think the tubes are more clear for about 3 months after the procedure, so hoping for a BFP over the next few months.

Oh I have heard that the combination of Clomid and IUI has quite a good success rate so when you get the IUI try and have clomid that cycle too, it basically ups the odds by making sure there are more sperm and eggs in the right place and the right time!!
