I am starting clomid as soon as AF shows up (hopefully by next week), on cycle days 3-7. Im on the 50mg dose and gyno said would up the dose next cycle. Just wondering how many cycles of clomid did it take before you got your BFP. What dose were you on? Also what kind of side effects if any did you have?

I got my BFP on 100mg, cycle 8. My side effects weren't too bad - occasional feeling of disorientation and a bit of nausea - but i found if I took them before bed rather than in the morning it was much better.
Good luck for your BFP x

If you dont mind me asking, were you ovulating at all before the clomid? Do you have PCOS? I am currently ovulating just every other month (or so I suspect) and have PCOS and am on Metformin for that...

It took me 3 rounds of 50mg clomid before I got my BFP. However I didn't take the Clomid month after month. I would get so stressed out from ttc that I would skip months in between doses. :blush:Another reason I skipped months is because I had a chemical pregnacy on my 2nd round of Clomid. I ended up taking 3 rounds of Clomid over a 6 months time. My doctor told me to take the clomid on cd 5-9, after the first round I just decided to take it on cycle days 3-7.

my first daughter was concieved with clomid...100mg days 3-7. This preg....same 100mg days 3-7. Both first month of use.
I also took before bed.

after 16 months of trying i was put on clomid 50mg days 5 -9 got pregnant first go

i wasnt ovulating prior to taking hadnt for over a year you should have seen me when i got egg white cm for the first time in a loong time went crazy i was so excited

2+ years of TTC and just two losses to show for it (1 molar 2009, 1 normal 2010) I got put on 50mg Clomid CD2-6, taken in the morning. Side effects weren't too bad, I had a migraine the first day, then just hot flushes, night sweats and bad moods for the following 4 days. My ov was a lot more painful than normal, but well worth it!

My problem is I tend to ovulate too early and have a short LP, also OH has low count (10m)

We BD every single day I had EWCM & for 2 days after.

I had my scan the day I was ovulating (CD12) & had definitely ovulated from 2 follies on one side, there was another mature follicle on my other ovary, which we think was just about to go as well. I was in total shock when I got my BFP about 11 days later!

Good luck, hope it works for you too xx :dust:

I took my first cycle in Nov, 100 mil cd 3-7 and it worked!! I did O before and AF were normal doc gave it to make quality of eggs better.

 Hi MrsJerome,

I was on metformin for 8 months prior to taking clomid and conceived on my 2nd cycle, 50mg day 2-6. I have PCOS with very irregular cycles and rare natural ovulation but i ovulated on both clomid cycles. Strangely enough, I ov-ed very late when conceived, on cycle day 25! I would advise checking your temperature regularly and recording it on fertility friend, plus using ovulation prediction strips. I wouldn't have guessed my date without them! Good luck

I got my BFP on 4th cycle of Clomid 50mg CD 5 to 9.

Have PCOS with irregular cycles so I was on Metformin 2,000mg too. We actually got pregnant on 2nd cycle after hubby's sperm count improved from "below average" to "above average". So I'm very positive that it was a waiting game for hubby's sperms to increase.

I was ovulating on my own but my cycles were so irregular that I could never pin-point ovulation date. After NTNP for 1 yr,I got myself checked followed by hubby. And it turned out that I had PCOS and hubby had to take antibiotics and vitamins for his sperms. So it worked out after 1.5 yrs of waiting for us.

i was on 25mg days 2 - 6 first cycle no bfp, then 25mg 2 - 5 and 50mg day 6 for cycle 2 and yay BFP. not a lot of se just some cramping, and hot flushes. DH would say moody but ill beg to differ lol. goodluck!! :dust:

Thanks everyone!! lots of hope!! cant wait on AF now lol...congrats to you all too!

Hello!

I got my BFP on 5th cycle of clomid, 100mg days 3 to 8. The month I got pregnant I did a few things different, Took 1 baby aspirin a day, used pre seed, soft cups and took the cough medicine (the one with guaifenesin as the only active ingredient) Still cant believe I'm pregnant! after 4 years trying!:happydance:

Oh I have PCOS too an haven't ovulated in about 10 months before starting clomid, was also on 2000mg of metformin aswell but have been on that for quite a while.

Good luck to you!

Awww..congrats HevG!!!! I used pre-seed and softcups already and take prenates, extra folic acid and a baby aspirin too..gotta start taking my metformin again...had stopped it since it totally messes my stomach up with anything bad for you and the holidays were not the time I wanted to be running to the bathroom every 30 mins after eating at other peoples houses lol...never really had a problem with the CM so havent taken the guaifenesin stuff just for that..although I have been sick and taking sinus stuff lately with it in there and I can totally tell a diff lol...

Hi I started Clomid in August after ttc a 3rd for nearly 2 years. Found out that I was not ovulating at all. I got pregnnat 1st go on 50. Unfortunetly it ended at 13 weeks when I found out that I had a mmc. I am now on clomid again - my first round since mmc. Sending you lots of:dust:. I hope it works first time for you. X

I was on clomid with my first pregnancy, I was on 100mg days 2 - 6 and I conceived on my 7th round. My side effects were dizziness and being very emotional - in fact, I went a little  but it was all worth it. My little boy is 2 now.

Good luck - and my length of time on clomid was abnormal... I am sure you won't be on it that long. x

Hey girls... I know this thread was started a long time ago, but I'm trying to get some information on Metformin?? I've heard a lot of women talking about using it in conjunction with Clomid or Femara. Is this only for women with PCOS? My doctors have definitely ruled out PCOS, but I can't help but wonder if I would have success if I tried Metformin. Any advice?

metformin is used for women for women with pcos because alot of them tend to be insulin resistant, which is thought to decrease the chances of the clomid working...and it also helps the women to lose weight, which can bring on regular periods

Hi everyone I was just thread stalking when i came across this. For those of you who didnt have pcos, did your doctors make you have your tubes flushed out first before prescribing clomid or did they just ask your history and go ahead and give it to you? Thanks.
