I'm in Bexley, Kent - Does anyone know of any cloth nappy shops or buy and sell type events where you can buy nappies - preferable pre loved (I know - asking a lot)!!

I've got tons coming, but I really REALLY want to go somewhere where I can see, touch and then buy them.

I know it will be dangerous financially, but I just love looking at all the pretty designs!!

i don't know any bricks & mortar shops in your area,
but NCT have the nearly new event i know some people have picked up nappies there but that's about all i can help with.

you might be able to find a nappy advisor in your area, they will normally do demos with you but it's unlikely they will offer pre-loved

other than the baby show i dont know of any specific shops although i think it would be a great idea for someone to do but i guess the problem for a WAHM to set one up is doing enough business to pay overheads , well thats in the UK anyway

I know of a couple of WAHM in NZ that run small shops out of their garages or outbuildings

 im just down the road from you :)

There is literally nothing :( I think there are independant baby shops in places like canterbury (eons away!) that sell BGs but thats literally it :(

I dont think there are any NCT things around here either, unless one has popped up and hidden from me! x

I'm moving back to Beckenham, not far! I always remeber green baby in Greenwich did some but they weren't pretties just basic fitteds. I haven't found anywhere that does pretties quite a few do nature baby, tots bots, bambino mio etc but no one that does the lovely Issy's!

There's a shop in Greenwich, Green Baby, that sells cloth nappies, not very many when I was last in, but I think I remember seeing Itti Bittis. There's also apparently a cloth nappy stall in Greenwich market - green-me.co.uk.

The hospital sold them too! Good old maternity staff and me had a lovely discussion about itti's at 11pm  bless them they were interested, all they had were BGs and totsbots! Its a shame there aren't any more retail places that sell the pretties, except at babyshows. I wish C&C would open a store!

i think several WAHM who currently run their own cloth nappy business making pretties should get together and one of them open a actual shop to stock the nappies and the rest make them for the shop and run a website, if i was hanging around in the UK i would get talk going about it see if we could make it happen but im not :(

Theres one opening nearish me soon!! I cant wait!! How about going to a nappucino in your area if there is one?

Thanks everyone!! In other words - NO!!!
Shame.
I found the greenwich shop on line, but as you've suggested, I suspected they'd only do boring shmoring plain ones. Good idea re the nct sales - I'll have a look there.
I did find a nappucino. Was yesterday at Danson. Was all excited and got bubba ready nice and early and off we trotted. Was a few (very well meaning) ladies stuck in the corner of the weighing clinic room. Did get offered a cup of tea though! Was nice to have a feel of the different types though. Got to me a bit as one lady came in and said she had loads, would they buy them from her, and they said no, can't sell them but can donate them to their organisation. Was going to collar the lady outside and tell her she could sell them online, but I got too absorbed in feeling all their different samples.

There certainly does seem to be a bit of a gap in the market somewhat. Food for thought if I had a spare minute'! (HA HA)

Thanks for tip too about greenwich market!

i can't sell you any, but you can always come and stroke mine - i mean Leo's. :haha: I live nr sevenoaks

It's just too expensive to run a real shop, and there aren't enough people in any one area to make it cover overheads. There is very little profit in selling real nappies as it is, without having the overheads of a shop. However, take a look at my returns policy, as it means you can not only see what they are like in the flesh, but even try them out before returning!
Also try to find out if you have a nappy advisor in your area, as they should have a variety of nappies which you would be able to see and feel.

Just tried looking for a nappucino in my area & got told the last one we had was over 12 months ago coz there's no funding!! Madness!

Ooooh, I'm only 20 mins from Greenwich and hubby loves going to the farmers market so I can go nappy shopping without him even realising I'm going to empty his wallet!! :happydance:
