Having even scones jam and clotted cream for the past 6 nights, thought I'd best check whether clotted cream is ok to et? Bit late now I guess

that sounds so good! i wouldnt worry ive just been eating what i feel like and i did that with my son too, i think theres only a very small chance of eating something bad and if your up for taking that risk then thats your own decision :)

Can't see why not, assuming its pasteurised? I would love a scone and jam right now...!! Xx

You can eat cream and butter, and it's so high in fat, it's nearly butter. ;) It's fine though. x

Clotted cream, unless you make your own!?!, will be pasteurised in the same way as single/double cream when you buy it from the shops. I am sooooo jealous right now, we have moved to France and you can't get any nice cream over here just creme freche, which isn't going to taste so good.....have a scone for me!!!!

I've never had clotted cream, only read about it in books or seen it on tv or what have you-- it has always sounded amazing to me and now I REEEALLY want to try it after reading this thread! Anyone know if you can get it in the US?

Clotted cream is very yummy. All it is, is very thick cream that you need to scoop with a spoon as it won't pour. It goes lovely with scones but I love it with chocolate brownies.

I need to go to ASDA!

EDIT *sorry for spelling, i was on ipad

im from you the UK and the clotted cream there is amazing! im in the US now and dont know if i have seen it, i dont think i have but i really want some now!! its amazing how everything here tastes so different, im really missing british food escpecially being pregnant! lol

Yes, you can...it is good stuff. I don't know where you are in Washington, but on the off-chance that you're in Vancouver, WA, we have it in Portland at New Seasons markets.

I'm near Seattle and we have some good markets around here, I will definitely look for it next time! Thank you! Now for a good scone recipe...

I've found it in the States when visiting the parents. It was at Brookshires, which is a regional supermarket (just East Texas and Louisiana when I lived there). Anyway, it was in the section where all the specialty cheeses were, in a glass jar that said Double Devon Cream. I guess "clotted" sounded too horrible. ;)
