Hiya :flower:

I co slept with my ds for 5 years lol I had no oh so there was just me and him and no problems. 15 years later I have Poppy and a oh and Poppy sleeps so well in bed with us and tbh I just love co sleeping but I'm also a little scared about having in our bed and am looking into co sleeping cots but they're so expensive. I don't want a crib type I want like a full size one... to save money would a drop ide cot do thr trick? Do any of you use one and does it do the same thing as the specific co sleepers?

Thanks. x

Wow 5 years! We bought this from ikea and just took the side off although its not designed as a co-sleeper. It works fine and will do for a bed as he gets older.

We have this cot:

We bought ours from John Lewis, but I don't know if they still stock it. It's been great-a good size, and means I don't have to get up in the night to feed!:)

I don't know whether a drop side cot would work- with our cot you can adjust the mattress height to match yours, and I'm not sure if a drop side cot is that adjustable. You could always measure and work out what would work

We got this ikea one https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90115997 and took one side off. We had to drill all new holes for the base to get it to the same height as the bed, so it doesn't look amazing but it does the job!!

I have mikey in bed with us and I just out his fullsize cot at the side of our bed ANSI took the one side off so he sometimes goes into his cot but most times in our bed I just adjusted the height of the cot base so that our mattress and the cot mattress were leve.

My cot is big enough, like the one SBB shows in the IKEA link. Mine is a different one, and it was a hand over.

It was not designed for co-sleeping and originally the base of the mattress did not come as high as we needed it to. So we went to B&Q and bought some metal angle things that we screwed in and helped to raise the mattress to the same height as our bed. We also removed one of the sides of the bed-frame. Then just pushed the cot mattress as close to our bed, and filled the side with whatever we had (blankets for instance). That's all we needed to to. We also put a sheet on the cot mattress, that is long enough to be on our bed, so it makes the cot mattress feel like is part of our bed.

I got the main tips from this website. The only difference is that we didn't buy the bongee cords. https://www.freewebs.com/sidecarcrib/index.htm

I hope this helps.

we have that cot, it's great, nice sturdy cot with about 6 different levels to adjust the mattress height.

however it isn't a cheap cot (ours was a gift so I didn't mind the cost) so if it's possible to convert a regular dropside cot to be more adjustable height-wise, I'd seriously look into it.
