Looking for some advise here for a first time mummy!

My LO is just over 5 months now and he has a terrible cold for a few days...

His nose is blocked and he has a really bad cough. I have been giving him some Calpol and also using saline nasal spray which seems to have helped a bit. My baby is usally so happy and hardly ever cries and now he is crying all the time and it upsets me seeing him like it

He was awake all last night as his nose kept waking him up when he couldnt breath through it properly. Today it has jsut started to be a 'runny nose'..does this mean the cold is coming to an end now?

Would really appreciate any advise on how i can relieve my LO's cold and blocked nose. I have been in the bathroom with the shower on so the steam can help clear his nose but not sure what else to do??

Thanks ladies

Jack has had a really bad cold and cough and we found that raising the mattress up and wedging him in place with rolled up towels seems to help him sleep better. Also baby Olbas on a muslin tied to his cot. Other than that I guess we just have to ride it out.

He has just got another cold today:( and I have too BOOO!:(

My Lo had a nasty cold about 6 weeks ago. We used a saline nasal spray and calpol, and raised the one end of the cot. We also got a Calpol plug in room vapouriser which seemed to help. We had one really bad night where she was waking every hour anf then after that night she seemed to get better so hopefully your LO is over the worst! x

We've had 2 colds with only a couple of days in between and have found tickling under the nose to help him sneeze helped, warm and humid (put water by the radiator) rooms, cuddles and patience to ride it out, hope it clears soon
