Hi everyone

My usual underwired bras (34B) were becoming uncomfortable and so I got measured in Mothercare (we have limited choice where I live). Duly presented with the ugliest bra (36C) I have ever seen, but I've come to realise a lot of things about pregnancy aren't attractive! Bra felt ok in the shop, but after wearing it for a day I realised the cup was too big and the band size too small.

Got re-measured in a lingerie shop, cup size back down to my usual (which I think is right) and band width noted as the same as my first measurement (so now on 36B). No bras in stock and so one is being ordered in for me.

Anyway, went to Mothercare to get new bra in recommended size (36B) as can't wait for lingerie shop one (10 day wait), wore for a day and its too small in the band width!! Went back next day and got next size up. I'm now wearing 38B.

However, it still doesn't feel comfortable and I'm aware of it all the time. I feel like I have a bandage wrapped round my boobs! Its the bit right under my boobs thats really uncomfortable. The cups and straps are fine.

I know that we need extra support, but given that I'm not that big (yet) do you think it would be okay to try wearing a 'normal' (rather than support) bra, even if I can't have underwired?

My bra saga is taking over my life, my old bras are more comfortable than my new maternity ones. Help - please!

im havin same problem hun..im normally a 38D...gone upto a 40D felt far too tight...so got a 40DD coz i cant find anywhere that i can afford a 42D bra! so know i only wear bra wen i go out the house lol x

Ah hun know how you feel... nothing seems comfortable at the moment... I was previously the sam as you a 34B and went to mothercare the weekend to purchase some new bras... walked away with 3 - 36B's. have been wearing them and they are a bit uncomfy.
Since then someone suggested to me a sports bra. So thats my plan at some point to give one of them a go. Feel the same as you am not that big and cant see any problem with them.

Mothercare bras have been so uncomfy for me also :growlmad: I bought a very pretty one from M&S but that too was too uncomfy

I have seen many recomendations for 'Bravado Body silk'....So am gonna buy one of those...

They have even won an award

Heres a link to one:

bra's are my enemie atm im in un'sexy maternity bras 2 for £22 at mothercare i was 34c b4 pregnancy now im a 38dd at 25 weeks xx and still growing lol xx

Glad it's not just me. I started as a 32AA  and am now measuring 34B :happydance: but the lady in Mothercare reckoned it was best for me to have a 36B to give me room to grow. In fairness it is quite comfortable but it's only available in this colour which is somewhat limiting. None of the others I tried on came close to fitting or feeling comfortable. :dohh: Maybe I need to try the Barvado ones too.

I got a bra from mothercare in cerise pink its lovely and very comfortable and im on the 3rd clip at the back so room for growth!

i think mothercare is so expensive hardly bought anything from there do u think it is or is it just me xx:hugs:

I've had 'bra gate' too - I currently have 4 uncomfy/poor fitting maternity ones in the draw.

I love my Elle McPhearson bras and they always seem to be a perfect fit so I was a very happy bunny last week when I found a shop with her maternity range! There are maternity bras and nursing ones and ones that will cover both - which I bought. I know they cost a bit more but I really think it is worth it as this is the first week in ages that I haven't had to fiddle with it all the time.

my oh thinks the clothes are expensive, but to be fair i bought a bra from m&s for £19 (so expensive but all they had and i was desperate) i was a 40b then so it was hard to find that size.
the bra i got from mothercare was £16 its non wired (the m&s was underwired) and i thought its gotta last me 3months, im not gonna buy any more maternity stuff now (hopefully lol) im a 40C now and like i said before i can adjust the back for growth, so long as my cup size doesnt increase.
i will get some nursing bra's for after the birth.

Just a word of caution - you shouldn't really be wearing underwire bras any more as they might damage your milk glands. Probably why maternity bras are so uncomfortable though as you need a bigger band underneath for support instead which can bunch up and dig in...

My midwifes told me it's fine to wear underwired bras, basically any old bra will do - as long as it fits correctly. The reason they tell you not to wear underwire is because so many people wear the wrong size, have the band too tight etc, and it digs in and can cause damage. If you're wearing one which is the right size and not tight in the band and not cutting in to you, it's absolutely fine to wear normal underwire bras right up to the birth, although apparently you might find they're uncomfortable later on. Midwife suggested sports bras til birth if uncomfortable and said not to waste your money on maternity ones unless you can keep wearing them for feeding.

My boobs must have gone up two cup sizes at least and one back size, so I'm in my largest 'emergency use only' bras which I bought when I'd put some weight on a couple of years back, and starting to spill out of those!

argghh i feel like i am in underwear hell...

I am now in size 16 knickers was a 12 before...i could get away with 14 but just not comfortable

and i am trying my best to wear the bras i bought from Mothercare (non underwire 2 for £20) a few weeks ago but they are not that supportive i dont find. I tend to wear a bra twice before washing it and the cups just make me look like i have funny shaped boobs and seem to sag :(

I went to Adsa yesterday and seen the nicest bra and knickers going, real fell good sexy stuff, and I could feel my eyes welling up  I MISS NICE UNDIES!!

I'm soooooo glad someone else is struggling with bra's!!!

I'm normally a 34B also and found my bra's getting tight so my other pregnant friend recommended I get sports bra's the next size up. I decided to try some non underwired normal bra's in a 36B first of all and they were far too small and tight!

So I bought two (very unattractive) sports bra's in a 36C.......not a good idea. They too were very tight and uncomfy. I then decided on proper maternity bra's in a 36C and coudn't believe that they are too tight too!!!

Ive now resorted to 38C!!!!!!!! Its strange cos I must be really expanding across my chest yet my boobs don't look any bigger really!!

yeah i know that but i was desperate i refused to leave the shop til i had 'something' that was comfortable, last time i went to m&s they didnt have anyone to measure me i was close to tears as i was so uncomfortable. I was developing the 4boob look, not a good look.:hugs:

Just ordered my Bravado bras (recomended by celebs~no less )

I bought them at 'from here to maternity'...£50 for 2 (in a sale at the mo' :happydance:) but I will be able to use them for nurssing too

Plus they describe the material as 'buttery soft'....:cloud9: How can you resist!

I'm not sure how Mothercare compares to other baby shops. This is my first pregnancy and the maternity bras have been my first 'baby-related' purchase. I live on the Isle of Wight and Mothercare is the only dedicated baby shop we have. M&S have about 3 maternity bras to choose from and BHS don't stock a maternity range, I'm sure I'd have better luck in our Ann Summers over here - at least they know their undies!

I find buying online a problem too, you've paid £4/5 just to try it on - gosh, I sound like a right cheapskate!

im having a big problem finding a maternity bra to fit. iv always had big boobs and now there gettin way bigger. i looked in the high street shops but couldnt find any that went up to my size. iv ended up orderin some from littlewoods but there not maternity bras. thankfully there more comfortable because the size is right but still hurtin me by the end of the day because the bones are stickin into my bump ! i really wish i could find a comfortable bra in my size but also with good support.

I thought it was just me. mothercare have no clue how to measure you.been measured twice within 1 week and both girls gave me different measurements, i cant see me going up a cup size in a week. And M&S wanted me to go up 2" inches on the back and 2 on the cup making me a 40G!!!!!!! Come on i need support now to hold these udders up not when i am full term.

Is there any shops out there, that can measure me correctly so i dont get saggy boobs or bra's that dig into me all day?
