Coming off the pill

How long did it take your cycle to return to normal? I came off the pill 6 weeks ago and have not had a period. I've tested and for a BfN and am now getting some admittedly irrational fears that I'm slightly barren and am nor going to ovulate. Any advice other than to get a grip on the craziness?!

I came off bcp in July and had my normal withdrawal bleed a few days later, then after a 26 day cycle I got my first 'real' period... But I don't think you're alone in not getting a period yet... there's definately been other people on here who've said the same thing... try not to let it stress you out too much, I'm sure you're absolutely fine and af will be here soon

Hey hun, I came off the pill and had a normal withdrawal bleed. Then AF arrived about 4 and half weeks after my wb.

I totally understand how you are feeling as I was totally feeling the same way until AF arrived.

I'm sorry I don't have a lot of advice but im sure AF will arrive soon.

Hey hun I came off the pill in June had a days af in Aug and then 26 days later I have had my normal one....I know it is a pain waiting but it will happen...!!

i came off the pill in june, had a withdrawl bleed a few days later, then 31 days afterwards i had a true AF in july. BFP in August.

I really does differ with everyone, can take a month, 3 months or 6 months!

I appreciate it's only my first cycle so I'm not feeling to upset about the bfn, I just seem to have developed the worry that in the 10 years I've been taking the pill something has gone wrong and I'm going to have trouble ovulating. I never went. 6 weeks without a period before I went on the pill. As I say, I know a but irrational but thought there might be some ladies here who wouldn't laugh at me! X

I'm on my first cycle off of BCP, had a normal (if slightly light) withdrawal bleed and am now testing to see if I ovulate this month, which I am told is a 50/50 chance. I went straight back to a regular cycle last time I came off of the pill so am hoping the same will happen this time. I was on Microgynon, what brand did you use?

Hey - I came off in June, had a normal bleed 9 days later, then a 42 day cycle. I had signs of ovulation CD 13/14 this month so I'm hoping that means my cycle has gone back but I'm not sure. Good luck to you!

It can take up to a year to get back completely to "normal". Are you charting your temps at all? That will help you to know when (or if) you've ovulated so that you know when you should be "expecting" AF.

It took me 7 weeks to get a period after the pill that was without a withdrawal bleed.
It can take up to 3 months so don't worry if it's not right away. x

I was on Yasmin. I havn't temped or anything as didn't want to get to serious about it until we'd been unsuccessful for a few months. Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing and AF will appear soonish!

some lucky ladies seem to get all their bits working very swiftly - me? sadly not one year on and still not ovulating - like the others have said everyone is different!

I know how you feel. I came off BCP after 7 years, on August 1st, had what I think was withdrawal bleeding on the 9th through the 14th and now am waiting on af. So Im in the same boat! Hope we both get back on "regular" cycles soon!

I came off the pill (Microgynon 30) at the end of March after about 3 years and had the withdrawal bleed right on schedule. This was followed by a 33 day cycle, which was precisely the same as my pre-pill cycles. My issues came after this. My next cycle was 73 days in total and I am currently on cd 52 and I've had several bfns. I'm next going to test in about a fortnight as that will be when I'm approaching the 73 day mark, if I haven't had my period by then!

I was on yasmin for about 2 years and came off the end of July and had a withdrawal bleed 3 days later then got AF 30 days later. Im now on CD8 of my second cycle so I'm hoping I will ovulate and get pregnant this cycle. I wouldn't worry too much as this is your first cycle after BCP but I know it must be annoying waiting for it. Good luck hoping AF arrives soon so you can get back on track!

Hey, am in the same boat! Am on CD 33 now waiting for my first AF after coming off the pill after 9 years!

I had a bit of pinky coloured bood (tim?) last night which i thought was AF but nothing since

It's all very confusing isn't it! Hope we all regulate our cycles soon!

this is my second time TTC and i have found that estrogen based pills leave your system a lot quicker than progesterone ones, i know that it can take up to a year for fertility to return after progesterone based pills but estrogen should only take a few months!!

Im not sure because i was on progesterone type pill when i come off to concieve my daughter and i fell in 8 wks ? i have now finished Yasmin i think that is less progesterone? , i was suffering with really sore boobs all the time that why they changed my pill , so coming off Yasmin end june /july i had a bleed 9 days later very heavy and very long nothing in Aug ? but feel like af is on its way , i just think everyone is different and the important thing to remember is not to get stressed it will sort it self in own time hun xx

I've also heard this, so am hoping because I was on a combined pill it won't take too long to get back to normal, it's the POP pills that seem to play havoc with people.
