confused on how far along I am.

My last period was Dec 11th 2014. Lasted about 4 days. I have a 27 day cycle. The first time me and my boyfriend had sex was december 26th. So that wasnt even three weeks ago. I got a postive test in the 12th of this month. I'm confused on how far along i am. Wouldn't I be 2 weeks and 6 days? But that would seem impossible. Can someone who's good at figuring this stuff out help and explain it to me ):

It's counted from your first day of your last period. So you'd count from December 11th, that would make you right around 5 weeks!

My last period was November 17th and I'm a little over 8 weeks !

Just going to say the same thing as the pp. The doctors go based off the first day of your last period. My last period was November 5th, and I am 10 weeks and 1 day.

No hunny it goes from the first date of your last period so off the top of my head that makes you around 5 weeks i think. Congrats on your bfp.

To back up what everyone else said, it goes from your last menstrual and doesn't factor your cycle length. Which seems odd to me...

For what it is worth, my LMP was 12/13 and I BDed 12/28. The other dates were well outside my fertile range. I got my BFP 9 days later. According to my app, I'm 4w5d. So we us so freakishly almost the same but off by 2 days, you would be exactly 5 weeks today! According to my pregnancy journal, this is your 21st day of being pregnant/ when the sperm met the eggie.

Dont know if to be happy that the first trimester is nearly over without me knowing. ..but still questioning my dates. Will only find out when i get my dating scan through. The wait is a nightmare.

Awww congrats! Do you typically have a longer cycle? I'm trying to picture in my head how you could be so much farther along. At least you found out though! And not because you had a baby on the bathroom floor. I used to watch "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" way too much. Also, what is a dating scan? I assume a scan to figure out dates of some sort. Sorry! I'm new to all of this.

Doctors use the first day of the last period (LMP) to date pregnancies because ovulation date is hard to pinpoint.

my lmp was Dec 13. I believe we conceived on 12/27. Cycle average is 32 days..... I have myself at 5w2d now.

as for you: most doctors just go by your lmp and then adjust according to the dating scan. I imagine you conceived on December 26. Making you edd 09/18/2015 but if you go by lmp your 5 weeks, 4 days - 9/17/15


basically 2 weeks are automatically added to edd.
