confused. when is a period??

hi girls, if any of you have come across my other posts you will know that on 6th sept, i miscarried.

we're going to start ttc again in the 1st cycle, but we have no clue as to when it is.

does my M/c bleeding count?
or is it my 1st period after that?
and when can i expect a period?
will it be my normal amount of time after M/C bleed, or will it come whenever it feels like it?

my Dr is truely awful and wouldn't give me a straight answer, like he was avoiding the question because he didn't know...

any help girls?

I have only had d&c's but was told that the day of the d&c counts as the first day of my cycle. I am not 100% sure but I'd imagine it works the same for a natural m/c, but I could be very wrong. Sorry for not being more helpful.

I had a miscarriage in feb. got af 4 weeks exactly later. after your first af after the miscarriage you could start trying. But after my mc my cycles were messed up for quite awhile so good luck!!

hoppin, some girls on here have said that you are more fertile straight after a m/c, so we're ttc straight away. i just wanted to know for dates really, and where to work it out from. so confused!


i should think it goes from the date of m/c, especially since i've only bled the same as i would a period..

but it'd be easier if i took it from next period.
(not that i'm expecting to get preg this cycle!)

I have heard that you are more fertile after a mc but they say not to conceive after one right away because higher chance of mc. My doc told me to wait 3 cycles before trying again. I wanted to try right away but he didnt recogmend it.

Hi i've had 2 MC this year and am now under the care of a Fertility specialist. The first day of flow (not spotting) is considered the first day of your cycle. It is safe to try straight away as soon as the bleeding stops and its doesn't increase the chance of Mc either. The only time its not good to try is if you have medically managed MC using the tablets cause the drain your folic acid reserves.

I had my second mc on the 12th of aug I got my af on the 11th CD31 I think I ovulated about CD 18 and I counted from the first day of proper bleeding with my mc, hope this helps x

hi i had a erpc on 23th Aug and so im still waiting for my period to come although have been having period type pains today and yesterday so maybe im going to start soon. I havent ovulated though yet since the 23rd which is strange maybe I have missed it. I am giving it a couple of cycles before trying again as the surgeon told me that he recommends waiting a year to try again to prevent the same thing happening again but if i couldnt wait that long at least 2/3 cycles to get the womb lining back to its prime again etc My first miscarriage before this last one was a natural miscarriage at 7 weeks and I bled for 2 weeks and then didnt get my period until 6 weeks after that, so i dont think its guaranteed your body will fall back into sync straight away everybody is different.

When I had a m/c it was about 2.5 weeks after the full bleeding started (I'd had spotting for about 3 days first) that I got the positive LH surge (normally I get this around day 12) - so I was about 5 days out of sync as I normally have a 28 day cycle. Are you using OPKs - I find this the best way to get a good idea of when I ovulate. Normally I get my period 16 days after I get the positive OPK. Good luck x

I M/C at 11 weeks 6 days. That was July 6th. My doctor has been monitoring my beta levels every week since. I'm still at 78 .... was 178 two weeks ago and 256 the week before that. It's been 2 and a half months. It's still going down, but very slowly. I chose to do it naturally when given the choice of pills, surgery or natural. Not that I regret my decision. I also never had a full bleed, more like the last day of your AF, brown discharge. I still get sharp cramping once in a while.
I don't know if this helps you at all, but I certainly didn't know it could take this long. I hope it's not the same for you. Good Luck and sorry for your loss.

Hi love, so sorry for your loss... I had a MMC around the same time as you, only just stopped bleeding really. My MW told me not to count MC as period...and to wait for first AF after MC bleed to safely start TTC again. The reason is because of your dates if you do become pregnant. Although I have heard mixed opinions on waiting for first AF and some women start TTC straight away...It all depends on how you feel emotionally and physically, I suppose.
