Hi there,

I am a bit at a loss at the moment so am hoping you ladies might be able to give me some advice or at least reassure me a little.

Roxy usually has 4 bottles a day (roughly 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7.30pm). Normally they have been between 7-8 ozs at a time. The last couple of weeks though every few days she has a day where she will only have 5-6ozs before she turns up her nose at it and sometimes the last 2ozs or so are a fight despite the fact that she is clearly still hungry.

I'm fairly certain that she is teething, so am wondering whether she might be in a bit more pain on those days and that is causing it? She is otherwise happy and healthy, no fever, had a bit of an upset tummy after her 16 week needles, but that was gone after about 2 days.

Should I just continue to do as I'm doing or is this some cause for concern. I'm fairly certain she is still putting on weight (sure feels like it!), but haven't actually had her weighed since 14 weeks.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm holding a conversation with my babbling little girl as I type, lol.

And now she has just completely rejected her bedtime bottle. Screams everytime I bring it anywhere near her. I am at my wits end now.

What size teat are you using? Maybe she need to use the next size up? Does she cry and arch her back?

My LO is 14 weeks and have starting doing the same at every feed. GP thinks my LO may have acid reflux have prescribed gaviscon infant.

We are currently using the size 2 avent teat (1month+). I tried changing her to the 3 (3months+) when she first started this, but she was coughing and spluttering. Perhaps I should stick it out for a couple of feeds and see if she adjusts.

No back arching or pulling her legs up, just turning away from the bottle and screaming. I did manage to get 5ozs in to her last night, but I had to dreamfeed it to her.

Just keep doing what you're doing. It's quite normal to not finish a bottle periodically. My daughter would rarely do it and the amounts could be really random - some days she would eat 8 oz, some days 5 oz, some days back to 6 oz. They are just more or less hungry at different times just like we are. If she's healthy and generally eating well and growing, you're doing it right, and it's better not to force it. They know what they need.
