confussing

Hi all,
i have an extremely complicated problem (well it is for me) i fell pregnant and had a scan dating me at 5+3 weeks when i got to 6+3 weeks i had a huge bleed and passed a large lump, i'd not gone back to the doctors for scan as i was certain i'd miscarried and didnt want to put myself through the upset.
Anyway i should also mention that digi tests had my pregnancy at 3+weeks the day before i had my scan.
i've done regular pregnancy test which have progressivley got lighter but not disappeared and digi have said pregnant 1-2 can anyone shed any light ?
i kind of feel pregnant in that my boobs are sore and my sense of smell is ridiculously sharp the only thing missing is sickness im always very sick during pregnacy, tummy is swollen too. (could be weight gain though)
Having my blood work done tomorrow morning but have to wait till tuesday to find out if im either pregnant or i've not miscarried fully....... hate not knowing.

When did you pass the large tissue? That would probablt make a difference in determining how light your tests are getting.

passed the tissue on 15th august

And when was the last positive pregnancy test? Is it possible that you did lose that pregnancy and ovulated as normal...maning you conceived again...? I'm not sure about how long HCG will stay in your system after a MC but seeing that it's the 22nd of Sept, it seems a bit long.

I know, thats whats so confusing.Last positive test was this morning, and i doubt i could have conceived again because we used protection (it felt weird not to)

hm. that is strange. Do you have a picture of the recent test? When was the positive digi (1-2 weeks) taken? It seems that you're not getting many responses in this thread, have you considered also posting in TTC after a loss (I say this without even knowing if there is such a thread but this wonderful site has everything so I assume there is)? I'm sure there are several women who would have some insight as to what may be happening.

Hmmmm... im not really sure?... Although its quite along time from you passing a large tissue e.t.c and still getting a BFP on a digi!!!

Mebies you didnt miscarry... or you havent miscarried all of the baby/sac e.t.c therefore still producing HCG??? (im a bit dumb on this side of things so if anyone knows more info on this please correct me!)

It sounds like you didn't finish miscarrying especially since you used protection this month and all. I could be completely wrong though. Let us know how the tests go!

I wonder now about the possibility of multiples? I know it's a stretch but occasionally women miscarry one and the other continues to thrive. I'm not sure how that would play into your hcg tests but I'm just exploring all options. Ultimately, I think it's important that you make an appointment and have an ultrasound.

Thanks ladies,

I went for bloods yesterday, have to wait till tuesday for results !!!!
i did another digital test and cheap stick both positive, digi said pregnant 1-2 and stick faint but defo pink line.
and i've not bled for a fortnight now so i dont know how that will affect the lowering of the HCG

i dont know if this will help but many years ago i had a blighted ovum and it took me over 4 weeks to fully pass all of it so it could be there is still something left i would think you need a scan to see,good luck.xx

i think u might need a scan to make sure your not retaining tissue although tests do take a whike to go negative after a miscarriaige sometimes!, good luck i hope you get some answers soon xxx

It would seem to me that the hcg would begin to vanish and that would coincide with the cessation of bleeding. I'm only thinking of this in comparison to retained placental tissue after delivery. The major risk in this case is excessive bleeding. How long has it been since your bleeding has stopped?

i cant say anyhting as not sure whats going on but wnated to wish u good luck if u were preg with a new 1 then id think that u get more than preg 1-2 on a digi did u ever get a neg on the tets after yr loss x

Ive not had a negative test at all. and i've not had any bleeding for a little over 2 weeks

Ok, 2 weeks without bleeding and still getting positives. Is it possible that you can get an appt for a scan because that just doesn't add up to a complete miscarriage?

Let me start by saying I am sorry for your loss. last year I has a missed miscarriage at a little over 5 weeks and it took weeks for my levels to return to normal even after the bleeding stopped. I was also followed by my Dr with blood levels to watch the levels drop. Hope this helps
